Those countries who purchased the many thousands of Russian tanks around the world must be hot on the phone line trying to get a refund haha

And those personnel who have to drive these death boxes must be praying every night they never have to fight

Blowing up worse than necessary is not great but western tanks can't stop a javelin to the turret roof and also get crippled by a single landmine blowing off 1 track, making them a sitting duck for artillery, more rpgs and farmers with tractors.

More likely that countries around the world have been noting issues in the arrogance of rushing tanks out without air, infantry or logistic support.

Ultimately it is nothing new - the first few weeks the Russians were making the same mistakes with tanks which were learnt the hard way even in WW2.

Tanks have always had a hard time against an organised force anyhow - they are still kings on the battlefield when things descend into chaos however.

Another way Russia is trying to bolster man power, using prisoners, without proper mobilisation:

Interesting they seem to be trying to form tank groups around the western military district in places like Nizhny Novgorod rather than nearer Ukraine. Obviously they are going to need some training before sending them into combat. Seems to me like they either haven't decided what to do with them yet or are forming them up to be reactively used in the weeks or months ahead.

Ancient 50-70 year old tracked transports that have been sitting around soaking up moisture and unlikely to have been maintained whatsoever will surely not cause problems.

Having worked in piling in this country with various tracked machines, some very heavy, some old, I agree that they need continuous maintenance otherwise they can fall over.

Indeed. And apparently that's partly down in part to the "special operation". Russian military units are maintained understrength with the idea being that conscripted troops fill in the lower skill roles when they are needed. However, because this is a "special military operation" and not a war they can't call up those extra troops so the units are left with too many tanks for the number of infantry they have to support them.

Another large ammo dump in Kherson has been hit..

How stupid are the Russians.
They're logistics are very rustic.

I was reading (on Twitter so take it with a pinch of salt) that they don't use pallets, containers or forklifts so a truck can't get far in a day as the loading and unloading times are so long because its all done by hand. This means that their logistics hubs are close to the front lines, are easily visible either to the local population or to satellite/drones, and within HIMARS range.

Because they rely so heavily on artillery and the front line is moving they need to move a lot of gear all the time, is hard to do that covertly.

HIMARS is causing them significant problems so they'll probably want to change tactics and "Zerg rush" again, which was a disaster last time.

In the pictures/video from the camps in Belarus just before the invasion when troops were on "exercises" the trucks of fire wood, food, equipment even ammunition were just piled up loose in the back and a group of soldiers would be handballing it.

Many of these MT-LB they are referring to were shipped off to western Belarus (and then back to Russia in more recent weeks) not sure who was intended to use them but I think the original idea was likely for Belarusian forces to use them to move on Lviv and cut off Kyiv from the west.

Some of the train loads being moved from deep storage look in a terrible state - I'll be surprised if 2 in 3 aren't even possible to get running without major work.

There is a video of an ZU-23-2 (twin 23mm autocannons) mounted on a MT-LB - they can't even fire more than half second bursts because the whole thing rocks so much.

A manufacturer in Norway has been found that can produce the special 35 mm bullets ammunition for the over 30 German Cheetah armored anti-aircraft vehicles.
https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deut...gepard-a-5c33b5b8-6a1e-4347-9414-c2a9bc50bf01 (German)
Cheetah: https://www.armyrecognition.com/germany_german_army_artillery_vehicles_systems_uk/gepard_cheetah_35mm_self-propelled_anti-aircraft_cannon_tracked_armored_data.html

The supply of ammunition for the cheetah was considered a problem as there were only just under 60,000 rounds available.
With supply of new ammunition and the manufacturer already training Ukrainian soldiers in Germany how to use the anti-aircraft tank, the first Gepard systems could be delivered to Ukraine this month.
