Old person here and never into gaming but now I need a gaming pc to run a golf sim, Foresight FSX Play. This has to be intel with 30 series graphics card.
Money not really a problem but don’t want to spend a fortune either. Want to get something that I won’t have to upgrade for a long time. I was just going to get this build.

Anything I should change in this?

Forum ate your link btw.

That's a sensible high end build. You could just buy that and it'd be fine.

There are alternative brands for most of the parts, but to an extent it's personal preference, I'd have samsung ssd, corsair or seasonic psu, asus strix gpu, and fractal design case, and remember you'll need Windows too.

There are meant to be nvidia 4000 series graphics cards out soon, I'd say on balance it's not worth waiting, just making you aware, other ppl will probably disagree on that.

I'd get a Better NVME SSD like Sn850 since you say money isn't an issue, the one on your build is only gen3 and slow in comparison

I'd only get a Phanteks amp or Seasonic PSU personally (same thing phanteks amp is just re branded seasonic)

I read corsair PSUs like to coil whine with UK power supply of 230-240v

Never heard of Oloy brand so I'm assuming it's the cheapest of the cheap like a lot of stuff on that build.
usually for cheap on here people go with

for cases
5000d
P600S
011d evo
Base 802
are all good options, you might need to buy extra fans depending on what case you go with usually they come with the minimal where as your probably wanting 3 at the front and 1 at the rear

Nvidia cards soon means winter most likely... new intel chips are coming too which are probably not out till winter either

Appreciate this. It was the ‘magnificent’ build on PC Partspicker.
I’ll check out your suggestions.
My head is fried looking at reviews graphics cards. I did like the look of a Tuf 3080Ti.
Yes, I did see that 4000 series was on the way but a 3080ti should stack up ok against a lower spec 4000 and availability will be low for the new cards (not that I really know what I’m talking about).
Only thing I’d lean toward is little or no RGB in the build and a ceiling height in spec to upgrade the odd part in the future.

Thanks for all that - I’ll look into those options.

With the mangled link I cannot really see what is in the original build so I just built one using some sensible high end components that will be good for at least 5 years.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,374.54 (includes delivery: £14.70)

This is a zero RGB build with a solid side panel case. You can swap components around and save £500 if you really need too.

I went for a 3080 12gb which is very very similar to the Ti and saves around £200, get these while they last because they are not being made anymore.

We are really close to new tech being released in the Autumn which will of course be better than the currently available 30xx series cards , Intel 12th gen etc etc so if you can wait then that is an option. Another option is to buy a mid range pc for around £1100 which will easily run all current games and save the cash for future parts. Lots of different routes you can go.

That looks great - Many thanks.
Would that work with a cheaper 3060 card and then upgrade that to a 40 series in a year or so?

Yes........but the next gen of gpus are rumored to be extremely power hungry so we can only make an educated guess to what power supply will be required. I would say a 1000w PSU will be ok for next gen 40 series cards but I cannot be certain until they are in the hands of independent reviewers.

Getting a 3060 card and then upgrading is a very sensible approach. 3060ti Founders edition is currently available on Nv UK site for £370.

why £200 ddr4? for the same price you can pretty much switch to ddr5

You are not wrong , it is overkill. I cannot always check the QVL list for a mobo so I go for what i know will most likely work without checking. I managed to fix the link so I could see the original build and it is in the correct ball park, the corsair ram in it is perfectly ok so he can easily go for that.
