RTX 3070 - Thermal Pad Replace - Now issues

Help!

I have a rtx 3070.

I use It for VR Sim racing.

It worked but there was a bit of thermal throttling.

I replaced the thermal pads with 1.5 & 2.mm gelid ultimates and thermalite thermal paste.

Now when I play my game… it loads… the fans spool up… and the screen goes blank!

I’ve just found that if I now lower the gpu voltage… it takes a little longer before the black screen.

Help!

The pads are too thick/hard leaving gap between the gpu die and heatsink so overheating and shutting down to not damage itself

What model 3070 ? FE ? Need to Google or YouTube the model and see what pads others are using

Gelid extreme are the more squishy ones

Cool. I’ll order the extremes and some more paste.

Just did a search… I think you might be right.

The card works fine with other games… then when I put heavy load though it… msi shows a temp spike and the thing goes black.

Was a bit confused as I thought the pads were an upgrade! Lol

Would do search pad replacement for the 3070 model you have plenty of different 3070 models not all use the same thickness pads and make sure to spread the thermal paste
