The fact that Russia are quite happy to cut off the gas to Europe suggests they don't really care about who relies on it, Russia are quite happy to suffer losses as long as the "enemy" suffers loss too

Because the elite only care for themselves, they don't give a rats arse what happens to the economy or Joe blogs, they will happily see them suffer for thier own self gratification.
Much how most Communist/dictatorships work.

More so than our Tory party, getting that in now lol

They are probably assuming that Europe's pain threshold is lower than Russia's, and it can bear that pain for longer.

Which is probably true.

They will need the commissar's in every street again reporting the dissidents. Not all people are quite so ignorant of what life is like outside Russia as once was the case.

Once energy sourcing is resolved we do not need to trade anything else with russia ever again as they make nothing very useful.

It will be a relatively short-term strategy. They just need to cause enough pain to cause western European populations to demand cheap energy again in the short-term.

I'm guessing Russia is just looking for a face-saving ceasefire and hold at the moment. It's clear they have now run into a brick wall.

Either that or blame everything on the west and hope patriotic spirit will give them a fair chunk of support. They can always menace and kill their own people, if they want to- it is Russia, after all.

The recent panic over food supplies and fertiliser suggests that's not quite right. They're also a major supplier of aluminium, if I remember
 
When someone starts coming out with that nonsense it's best to ignore them you'll never convince them that their wrong.

Lots of news on a possible counter offensive to recapture Kherson but looking at the map Ukraine is making gains in the Izyum area albeit there getting pushed back slowly around Bakmut.

Would like to see them try... all those artificial Islands they've been building and deploying troops to could be flattened rather quickly by the US and a bunch of their Airforce and Navy destroyed.
