Have probably thrown my money away, but have just bought an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe II that the previous owner said was showing 00 in post code. Thought I would take a gamble and see if the board could be saved, have to wait for it to arrive, then will try the usual steps of clearing BIOS by pulling battery and a flashback of the latest BIOS. Knowing my luck it will be a wasted effort, but you never know until you try, I have a spare 7940X that I can try it out with, so fingers crossed.

Subscribed.

Interested in how it turns out.
Apparently board is mint, if it turns out the socket is ruined I will open a case with eBay. Otherwise, will roll the dice and see what comes up, the seller didn't sound too techie when I fired across a question, could be the BIOS didn't support his CPU or it's just corrupted.

I often see 'parts only' items on eBay and think that maybe it could just need a new BIOS.

Buildzoid sometimes does a video on tech he got from eBay that's broken and tried to repair it. Apparently, the failure rated of Radeon 7 cards is super high and there's zero chance of repairing them.

Any blown caps on the board? Sometimes you can just replace a cap and it's fine.

Probably about 10 times too much, am embarrassed to give the exact figure, will let you know if it works out:cry:

00 on that board generally means CPU Error weather it be a faulty cpu or cpu not supported in the BIOS. On the top right of the board above the 24Pin ATX connector there will be some diagnostic LEDs that will cycle through on post. RED - CPU Error - AMBER - Memory Error - White - No Video connected - Green working state. It will stop on one of those if it detects an error. I cant remember if it gets that far though if its that the BIOS doesnt support the CPU and will just kick out a 00 error.

The Board supports Asus BIOS Flashback, download the latest BIOS, rename to X299D2.CAP and plug into the correct USB socket. Supply Power to the board press and hold the BIOS Flashback button until it starts to flash and leave it till its done.

You can also check which BIOS it came with originally as well by looking at the sticker above the memory slots.

That's the reason I took a punt on it, did a bit of research on the board and laid down my money.

That's pretty awesome.

Fingers crossed it's a new BIOS requirement.

Am getting a funny feeling about this board, no sign the seller has posted it and he hasn't replied to a message I sent. I think he was hoping for a bit more than I paid when comparing it with boards with mangled socket pins, will give it a few more days and see what happens.

I dont blame you. Ebay is a minefield and full of scammers or scumbags. I will say however my colleague spends a lot of time on there and grabs a load of bargains. He managed to grab a couple of Supermicro motherboards that were untested and they both work fine, infact i have one in my media server.

Turns out the seller didn't get a notification that it had sold, should get it tomorrow. Even if it doesn't work, it will keep me occupied for a bit, will update when it arrives.

Board arrived this afternoon, everything looked fine physically, popped in processor and everything lit up. 00, took out battery and cleared BIOS 00, flashed BIOS 5 times with flashback 00. Even tried heating the area around the Debug and still 00, looks like it has gone the way of the Norwegian Blue (dead parrot sketch).
