Hi all,

Currently in the market for a hot hatch, I currently drive an F30 330d s drive but after something new because A, I'm bored and B.. we'll I want something new :D

I'm looking at all the hot hatches and concluded the below;

Mercedes AMG A45 - quite an expensive car, my budget will only get me a low miles 15-16 plate car - fastest of the lot - quite like the car itself.

VW Golf R/Audi S3 - I've paired these together since they share the same engine the VW will allow me to get a high miles new car (19 plate) or low ish miles 16 plate car - lovely car and golfs are excellent but it's still 20+k on a golf? The Audi again I'd be looking at a 50k mile 16/17 plate.

All these have 4wd vs my rwd, but I also love the thump and torque my 330d outputs will any of the above be noticeably quicker?

This leads me to what I've always wanted and my heart is set on this - BMW M140i - I know its not the fastest on here but that 3 litre growl and I've seen the b58 engine can be efficient when I'm sat at 60mph traffic on way to work AND I am surprised I can get a lot more for my money with this car I.e the age/miles/options etc..

I think I'm set on the Audi or BMW as I've had a golf previously + my Bm Is a 64 plate so don't want to be getting a 64/15 plate a45...

Sorry for long post but in short 20-22k what hot hatch you buying?

That budget gets you a Megane RS280 its all you need ;) Handling blows anything else away (except another Megane RS!) take a few twisty B road corners at speed in one then jump on the throttle & I doubt you will be interested in anything else :p

I was going to suggest the Alpine A110 as it's one of the best driving cars...in the world.

But it's seriously expensive.

Probably just suggest the A45 AMG.

They are all faster than a 330d but deliver it differently.

Had a 340i with the B58 before and its a great engine, just RWD can be sketchy sometimes. Loved the car overall.
Have a Mk8 Golf R now and while its faster, a bit, its just easier to shoe it with the AWD.

But out that list, M140i :)

A 330d and a hot hatch seems a weird pair, they're not that far apart in terms of experience. Either get a 2nd car that's actually different (sports car with 2 seats) or upgrade the 330d IMO.
