How do I install bought game? (Microsoft)

I knew that this was no going to be straightforward with Microsoft so can anyone tell me how I install a game, Gears of War Ultimate Edition for Windows 1o after purchae. It is not shown in the Xbox app I have an email confirming purchase but absolutely no clue as what to do next?

Thats just it it wasn't and in fact you need the Xbox app installed which it then asks to launch but then I am offered the game pass or buy the game which I have already done.
I got the refund so I may just try and buy it through the app rather from the store, it may work that way but Microsoftt don't like easy so it may well not.:D
 
Assuming that you are signed in with an account and have redeemed a code, you should be able to find anything you own by opening the Microsoft Store, clicking Library in the bottom left and then filter by Games... you can leave the filter on 'all', but sometimes you might not see things as clearly when they're mixed with all the other apps.
You should see every game you have linked to your Microsoft account in the library with a button to download them.

I have the Xbox app installed as I must have bought Gears of war 4 at some point and that is listed under the games heading but Gears of War Ultimate Edition is nowhere to be seen except of course in the store. As I said I got a fefund and my well try to buy the game again though the app.

I had an issue last night where I could only see my installed games in game pass but I wasn't signed in so it wouldn't start them. The app had just updated. If you open the XBox app and check the top left, it should have your username.

Yep my name is there, looked in my Microsoft account and the purchase is listed there, though it says pending now, I assume this is because of the refund.
 
I have discovered what the issue is, I think, the XXbox app was signed into an old email address, I have switched to the new one but of course the game will not be listed now as I have had a refund.

I feel your pain.

It took over a week of faffing about to get Forza Horizon 5 installed on my PC.

I hope there's a special place in hell reserved for the designers and coders of this horrendous software, where they have to spend an eternity using their own app to install stuff.

Great not just me then, but in fairness it was an old account which the app decided to use, why is another mystery. :D
