Did anyone watch the videos yesterday? So much want for this! A little disappointed it didn't get the 4.2 litre motor, but the rest of the changes look epic. In the disguised videos, I thought it looked a bit ****, but now I'm a convert! The car looked white but apparently, that was the new Ice Silver colour.

Its gone too far i feel, or its just that track day hero as now seems the GTS has dropping in GT3 space, the GT3 covers the old RS space and hence the GT3 RS is a little OTT.

No denying a very special car though.

Absolutely mega piece of kit and I'm very excited by it. BUT also not at all as it's complete unobtanium, even if you had 230k to buy one you ain't getting it! If you need to spend ~500k with a dealer to get a GT3 can't imagine the requirements of an RS.

I can imagine it being super appealing if you're very experienced track goer looking for another step up in experience. The "DRS" controls sound awesome.

As with all GT3* products though, unobtainium to most people even if they have got the money

Hopeful for some of the new tech to trickle down to the rest of the range though

Not quite right. I've never bought a new Porsche, yet got a GT3. I think they liked that I track all my cars. I previously dealt with the dealer (GT4 and GT3RS 991) but there are some lucky folk. Perhaps helps living in Scotland where there might be a smaller amount of people after one.

Anecdotally, you do need to either be extremely "lucky" or spend serious money with them to stand a chance. I was chatting about Cayman GTS with someone at my local OPC and they suggested if I wanted a GT4RS, buying one of every current Porsche model on sale wasn't enough for some customers.

I'm sat here right now looking at a screenshot of an email to someone with a 911 order in asking about a GT3RS allocation. The email is pretty rude, saying you need to be a "long-time customer" and the DP allocates the cars and concludes with "on a positive note, you have your 1st car on order with us and one day it will happen".

I'd be cancelling my 911 order at that point. Obnoxious ******.

Interesting, that's a surprise. Only people I know who've got one have had the usual 3-4 years of buying a Macan every 6 months alongside running another GT car through them.

I am somewhat tempted to throw a deposit at my dealer and just be patient, for a 992.2 GT3. They're building so many compared to previous generations maybe it's plausible.

Yeah it's not cool being rude. The email should basically have said something like:

"Thanks for your interest in the GT3RS. Allocations are extremely limited and demand high for this model. We'll add you to our list, but realistically the slots are more likely to be filled by long term customers with a larger buying history. We hope you enjoy your new 911 and some day we can get you into a GT product".

Porsche dealers for you.

I went to pickup the GT3 from its service, £1750 lighter in the pocket as 8yr major, I asked so what is the chance of a new GT3, GT4 RS, Spyder RS and was just told we get a handful and we allocate to our big spenders, fair enough.
Went across to Ferrari, poked around a 296, offered an extended test drive and an allocation if I wanted one, absolutely totally different customer experience, the whole GT car thing has Porsche stuck so far up their own backsides. They were even proud to acknowledged they'd sold a used GT3 the month previous for like 270k used.

I do understand it, supply and demand, the supply is none existent and demand huge, so the overs are big, though 992's are dropping fast, lots for sale now from 220k, still anyone lucky enough to get one new knows they can spank the hell out of one, put a few thousand miles on the clock and then move it on and be 50k up minimum.

@mk1_salami was wise to go PTS as they will always command a premium, just like the current 991.1 signal yellow RS for sale at 170k, stunner, but commanding 20k premium over a none PTS colour.

The good news is that most of this kerfuffle is caused by dealers who are up themselves and with any luck they won't exist in 5-10 years. Even Porsche need to move to direct sales to survive EV transition.

By the time that happens though will people be falling over themselves to buy a glorified milk float? :D

It's the way the world is going with higher end halo, 'limited' in demand products.
Same with Rolex watches - you need to have spent a considerable amount with them over 5 years, buying up the less desirable watches, to even be considered for one of their SS sport watches, otherwise you're laughed out of the AD.
Surprised NVIDA haven't clocked on and doing the same with their x090 range of cards.

I think it just depends on the dealer. I've had a great experience with mine. Funny you say about Ferrari. I have a friend who was laughed out of the showroom when enquiring about a Speciale a few years ago. He went elsewhere (Ireland actually) and received a completely different service, then went on to buy a 488 Spider and a Pista. Edinburgh dealer got chatting to him at Knockhill a couple of years on and was pretty embarrassed about the service he provided.

In fairness I've only dealt with Dick Lovett Swindon and Stratstone Wilmslow, both fantastic with test drives and paid for days/weekends away on Ferrari hospitality. I think the thing is I have a car they want to buy as such I guess it makes them somewhat more keener to try and sell you something else, I was offered a new 812 SF, never enquired about a GTS which was the rarer one, was offered an F8 Spyder but found it boring to drive and recently offered a 296, but I can't see me ever selling the 458, it is just way to special a car and such an event to drive, the latter is something the newer stuff has lost and I doubt I'd ever own two cars of same brand, I enjoy trying different cars.

I am off to give Mclaren hospitality a second attempt this weekend, got a 600LT drive booked as am tempted to buy a 600LT Spider, will mean sacrificing some cars but it has always been my favourite Mclaren so going to give it another chance and take things from there, but Mclaren service and running cost are somewhat shocking compared to Ferrari so want to go in eyes open and fully educated before dropping 150k on something which may then cost 5-10k a year to run compared to a 458 and GT3 which cost around 1k a year to run in comparison by which I mean servicing/warranty cost.

600LT incredible car I’m told.

Will let you know, having a go in a coupe, but if it ticks my boxes, I will want a Spider, then just to decide on what to shift to get one, GT3, Spyder, Lotus, shall see as Mclaren I need to research the real running cost.
