Storage, OS, GPU are moving across with an outlook to upgrading the card separate later
Looking at mATX - case, board, cpu, memory, psu, cooling options (AIO + 3 case fan, vs air brick + 5 case fan)
Home use and expectation to run at acceptable levels in some games with reduced/adjusted settings

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £794.93 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thanks in advance

I have built using this case and the stock fans are decent for the money but obviously noctua are way better, Although for a cheaper build/case I would use the excellent artic fans for half the cost as your not replacing the fans on the aio (which are very good for the money).

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £23.98 (includes delivery: £0.00)

The aio will be good (and looks tidier) but that case can fit some serious coolers in it.

Title says budget build but that will be a capable PC for many years to come.

I would go with the AIO , looks very neat and tidy. Have you got a soft spot for Asus? no proper heatsinks on that mobo so have a think about the MSI mobo below that has actual heatsinks, whole £1 cheaper as well.

Was probably in an overly cautious mindset as I've not gone with mATX for a while. Definitely still want to make the switch as I'll never need the space of a midi case
Those fans are actually pretty impressive for the price, nice find. I had actually thought about whether I could just go with a quality air cooler on the CPU, and 5 case fans instead

Nope no particular feelings for Asus, previous system has a GB board
What do you do with the PC?
General home use and gaming. Not silly/high settings but just running comfortably, I would like to try and have decent cooling in the case as the room can sometimes get a bit warm
I would expect it to be good for the next 3/4 years or so after I've replaced the GPU (which will be done seperately a bit later)

I’ve just finished a 12400f build with a b660m motherboard in the same case. It’s got lots of room to work with and can’t fault it. I went with no rgb as well and replaced the fans with 3x arctic p12 pwm pst.

That's good to know. I've looked at the MSI board someone else mentioned, but curious none the less which one you went with in the end?
Cheers

I ended up going with the ASUS TUF b660m-plus d4 Wi-Fi. Got it for a good deal of £105 with potential £25 cashback.

Updated basket in original post there is still a bit of wiggle room in budget, possibly for 12700 its just awkward timing with the next load so close
Cheers for the replies, insightful especially the MSI tip
