First time loop - advice please before I burn my house down

I was more familiar with his more recent videos (though in fairness I think he's been trying to create new types of content). That guy (Phil?) guffawing away in the background at every little thing doesn't really help, but now I've watched the earlier stuff I've totally changed my view of him, his videos have been the most helpful (after you guys obvs!).

So it wasn't just me that found the obscene loud laughing guy somewhat annoying? Anything Jay does and it's loud laughter. Jay's channel in recent years feels like to a degree it has become that Practical Jokers programme on Comedy Central. Full of childish things. 2 - 4 years ago Jay's channel was a lot better. Even 2018 was so different. Not so much of the goofy things that's taking place lately. Blowing stuff up and childish laughing at everything like at the back of the classroom flicking pieces of paper being amused by it.

Oh and 100 times of I digress.

Oh indeed, I think I also found it hard to take him too seriously when he made a bit of a hash of LN2 cooling after seeing Steve from Gamers Nexus do it. Maybe I'm just getting old and intolerant: I also stopped watching LTT videos after they kept inserting "spontaneous" comedic comments from staff in the background. Watching Linus drop expensive things is comedy enough, stay in your lane nerds :D

Everything is looking good here, no leaks, got my RGB rat's nest rammed back in the case and ready to fire it up in a few hours...

So here's the final result:

I've been well and truly bitten by the bug though: I've found a custom water block for my graphics card so I'm going all in. After draining the loop to add in the new tubing to the graphics card, can I re-use the existing coolant? It's only been in there for about 5 days.

As long as when the coolant is drained out
It looks like there's no crud in it
Then I would reuse it
Forgot if you washed your radiator out or not
Adding a second radiator?
I always prefer to if doing the gpu as well
Guess some people might only use 360mm
But I would rather have more radiator than needed
Than have just enough

Well done on your build
And yes custom watercooling does grab hold of you
And shakes you until your wallet empties lol

Funny how you don't realise how much space is in the 011 XL until you see everything out.

What's the reason Corsair pumps and blocks/radiators are so popular, because of Jay2Cents?

When I decided to go to watercooling I managed to pickup a Corsair Hydro X Series iCUE XH305i kit off the big A site for like £385 on sale instead of the £500+ RRP. Seemed like a reasonable kit for a newbie at a good price with that discount (RRP is bad). Picked up another 360 rad and 2080Ti block and off I went.

Subsequently I learned more about how crap the QL120 fans are and more general experience with watercooling.

Even to this day when I went all in on Noctua fans and added another 2 rads, I'm still rocking the Corsair CPU block, a commander pro and the reservoir/pump combo. Corsair warranty is amazing as well. They advance RMA everything at no cost other than the hold on your CC, and as long as you have a receipt there is no nonsense from them accepting an RMA.

I think it's just name popularity and ease of use. One thing Corsair did do right with their watercooling line-up is rebrand HWLabs on the rads and obviously using the D5 pump. It's not as if their watercooling stuff is cheap crap rebranded Corsair and sold at a big markup.

I really like the commander pro for controlling everything (temp sensor in reservoir for fan curve). Since my first days on iCUE 3.x to the horrendous initial 4.x launch, the software is actually pretty good now. If you look on the Bay you can get Corsair RGB connectors to plugin other RGB devices so they work via iCUE. I've got an EK GPU block and it works fine, as well as my memory block and even the RGB strip on the front of the XL.

But Corsair fans? Stay well away. Overpriced rubbish.

Apologies for the unicorn vomit but I loves my RGBs  Personally I went down the Corsair route because of the software - I did try and use a few others but they're almost all absolutely awful, most notably gigabyte RGB fusion. I know the QL fans aren't highly regarded but I'm balancing aesthetics against performance - they do OK but I do often wonder if I should ditch them and try something else.

GPU block added - here's a quick pic (still needs a bit of tidying up):

Should I have added a second radiator? I read a few guides that said I'd probably be OK with a 360 rad and 1 CPU and 1 GPU. I wouldn't need much convincing to get another one - I assume it'd go: Reservoir -> GPU -> 1st radiator -> CPU -> 2nd radiator -> reservoir ?

Personally I would have another radiator
And the order doesn't really matter
Whatever looks best
Or is easiest route for you
It will all reach a state of equilibrium after its been
Running for a while anyway
Or within a degree or 2 regardless of loop order
As long as the order doesn't let pump run dry
Is about all that matters

And yes Gigabyte rgb fusion is awful
So is their siv software
Doesn't pick up half my fans
For the RGB I now use signal rgb
It's pretty good at picking up almost anything
Including commander pro connected stuff
And my ek rgb block for gpu
And built in motherboard rgb and ram rgb
Though sometimes it sees them but you have to manually enter
The amount of rgb in them
It sees my rgb strips I just need to manually enter 60
As amount of leds in them for example
But its pretty good at picking stuff from different manufacturers up
And letting you control all the rgb
Not saying it can detect absolutely every bit of hardware out there
But it gets regularly updated to add new stuff
Certainly worth a look at

I`d definitely put another radiator in there, there`s enough room at the bottom ;)

It looks nice and the tube bends are nice, congratulations :D
One thing though, it looks like you still have some air in the CPU block, should it be like that?

He probably took the photo right after turning it on
Sometimes needs a bit of pump at full speed
To get some of the air out
Does with my cpu and gpu block
To get the last bit out as my pumps default to low rpm

Mine is always the top tube where the air bubble gets stuck.

Yeah it did that when I first had it going without the GPU in the loop - went away after a couple of days so hopefully it'll do the same this time too.

Is it an illusion that the far right hand side tube
Looks very flattened?
Am thinking its because of the dark background
Maybe camera didn't capture it right
I usually ramp my pumps up and down to move bubbles
And gently let air out top of reservoir
Now and then

Well, the whole thing is a lot quieter than previously so you do tend to notice any noise - there is a small amount of noise from the pump under load but it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Thank you! I missed your reply!

It is interesting as my DeepCool AIO makes zero noise @ full RPM, custom loops are WAY overpriced yet parts are not that premium :)

It looks great by the way, a very thoughtful combination of colours and parts!

I am still browsing as the Corsair kit is way overpriced £550 just for the CPU cooling versus a top AIO @ £200, they should have added the GPU waterblock, I guess they prefer to sell few and just get astronomical margins.
