3 lovely days of riding! Although bit humid Saturday! Hopefully get a few more weeks of it although noticing it's a bit chillier first thing in the morning. Might have to put arm warmers on again soon.
Had a great 105km ride yesterday, felt good at the end and still felt I could go a little further, about half way round just as I was going for a climb I changed down on the front ring and peddled a little to fast an dropped the chain rookie mistake.
I got the chain all back on and can’t notice any obvious bends but on the rest of the route there was a click at the back every so often.
I’ve looked at the cassette and it seems fine, I’ve ordered a replacement sram chain I am assuming I’ve bent a chain link enough to be annoying and would just be safer to change the chain.
Well it looks like I need to start doing pedalling technique exercises. Reading through the data gathered Wahoo thinks my pedal efficiency is 17/17% I was under no illusions that my pedalling wasn't perfect but I didn't realise it would quite that low!

I used to think that but when I was using Zwift in the spring it mentioned something about kicking, dragging and pulling. I'm about to get the Turbo set back up again over the next few weeks so that'll be what I really work on over the winter.
For all things considered, I've only had a road bike just over a year now (26-08-21) so I'm clearly in my embryonic learning stage. I just want to win some monument tours already
Wouldn't worry about it, I sit around 27%, but no idea what a good number is as presume 100% is completely unachievable, but suspect even pros wouldn't be that high.
Anyone noticed Strava giving achievements on segments which are incorrect? I’ve been getting them near my house when I’ve only been pootling along and must have ridden it 500 times.
I've seen PR's the last 6+ months on stuff I know I've ridden harder/faster before. Almost like it's stripping out old results.
For a while I thought it was the '2022 PR' stuff returning, but not seen that for a few years now - when you had a 'yearly record' on something which gave a trophy, even when slower than previous years? Anyone remember?

Will just be a bent outer plate, if you can't easily spot it you've done the right thing. But if a new chain (+ the cost of them) I'd be hunting it down and bending it back...

& I'm sure there are plenty more. I recall a whole series on TrainerRoad which makes me think it was part of their podcast which then evolved into some good techy documents but can't see it now?
I'm at 18% on my long social ride on the weekend, but I only have 1 value as I'm using a single (left) sided PWM. Quite happy with that really! But also no idea what 'normal' would be. I'd said @SoliD at 27% was pretty damn good - possibly from great pedal control of riding CX/MTB as well as the constant power that TT'ers like. One of those things riding multiple disciplines easily gives you - good constant smooth power delivery through more of the pedal stroke.
My left leg is my least dominant, but I know from the times I rode a double sided PWM my averages where similar to yours at 49/51. Worst I ever saw was 47/53 and then only once when utterly destroyed and pedalling squares to get home. I got quite stressed into 'being uneven', but when speaking to a friendly local bike fitter he said really anything around that is fine and hardly anyone without good coaching or a long background in riding was the same - slightly imbalanced. It tended to only be injuries which made people 'bad', but he did say pedalling smoothness really brings efficiency and 'getting the most from the pedal stroke' was what to train, not balance. That 'wiping gum from your shoes' was the easy way to train some smoother cadence. We had a long silly discussion about wiping different things from shoes to train different things!
@Roady ive ordered a new chain as it was only £20, however with the Royal Mail strikes it’s gonna be a few days till it’s here.
I’m going to give the bike a deep clean tomorrow so I will try an have another closer look at the links again and if I can find it I’ll have a go and try to straighten it.
So went to the local bike shop and it turns out my rear derailleur is faulty for some reason the cage wont move back which was what caused the chain to drop. The shop has said they can deal with Canyon for me and get it all sorted under waranty.
Got some clipless pedals and shoes coming tomorrow. It's my first set of clipless pedals, shoes too so went with a 2 bolt set up, I read that it's good for beginners.
I did have smoothness (the peanut shaped pedalling graph) when I had a Rotor Inpower on my TT bike for a while. Tried it live with the app open on the computer, seemed like a gimmick and then didn’t use it again!
Not sure I can get it on P2M (maybe pay to active it) but it would likely be an interpreted value anyway.

It was in response to you saying solid at 27% was pretty darn good, i was just pointing out i wasn't far away from that and can't be called a good cyclist!
Helmet recommendations - I've been struggling more than previous years with the heat, so looking at grabbing a newer more ventilated helmet, looking at Kask Valegro, the Abus Airbreaker or Specialized Prevail 2. Anyone got any others or experience of these?

Can't comment on helmets, but i've struggled with heat this year too in all activities, it feels like it's always been really close and muggy rather than actually hot. Hoping it's not a sign of things to come!
