Surely everyone has agents everywhere.
Yes I'm sure they do, we do get a lot of information coming from western intelligence about what Russia is doing, Biden knew the war was coming weeks before they crossed the border.

But it's the level of misinformation through the press and social media I'm talking about, it cant be stopped.

I'm also not sure why people like Tucker Carlson from Fox news gets away with it. obviously in the pocket of the Russians, does no one investigate these people?

Just another paid Russian stooge spreading misinformation.

To be fair you have to hand it to Putin, he has agents all over the world in high places, cash can do that, but the big prize and a stroke of genius was getting the president of the United States, Trump. for 4 years Putin ran America

Haven't those allegations now been outed as utter horse ****?

By who? A Russian stooge by any chance? It's pretty clear they have a huge network, there are ex US and British. colonels telling us how invincible Russia is and why we should stop winding them up.

They spout this nonsense despite the facts on the battlefield saying otherwise

You think they do that for nothing?

Oh sorry, I should've been more specific. I was referring to the trump thing.

Which is why he began his Ukrainian adventure during Obamas tenure, went quiet while Trump was in then went full tonto when Biden got in - that is some hot take….

Except Russia's real goal is the end of the West's rule-based order. I do not believe that discussion is necessary on whether the cold warrior has every interest in maintaining that system. Anyway not a Trump thread.

I've yet to see where the allegations were "horse ****."

Russia did help him win his election. They've said so themselves.

Whether he coordinated with them on this could not be legally proven because of the obstruction Mueller detailed, which is why he was impeached the first time.

The impeachment was only dismissed because the Republicans cleared him of it, without listing to evidence/witnesses and they needed a 2/3rd majority.

Recently listened to a podcast where an ex CIA agent was interviewed and he said Russia will win this, Ukraine isn't a significant asset to the West. And also whilst the West is 'helping' Ukraine all it is doing is selling weapons/saddling it with debt. The invasion is going as per any successful invasion, despite the earlier setbacks.

Russia doesn't needt to take over every city. As we all know this is clearly an economic war as much as it is boots on the ground. The end will be Ukraine staying as Ukraine but being controlled be Russia. An outcome accepted by all.

One person's view but an interesting one.
Love to hear how he thinks they will win in Ukraine

That person obviously likes to smoke crack.

Hes the biggest prize.

You have to remember the press conference between the two of them. Trump looked like the school kid in the headmasters office.

Everything they asked he defended Putin to the hilt.

He made CIA look like idiots blaming them and not Putin when asked about the obvious election interference.

yea he was as meek as a lamb in front of Putin butt in front of the western leaders he was puffed up like a lion saying look at me i'm the boss

Depends on Russia's commitment and will really - if they can sustain drip feeding fodder they might eventually wear Ukraine down before Ukraine can decisively strike back, or if they were to go to a higher level of mobilisation they still have a lot of manpower and equipment - though they seem to struggle with large scale combined arms coordination.

I think people vastly underestimate how much Russia has been clearing out the old stock with this invasion, often seen as desperation. Yes their armed forces are in a somewhat woeful state, there are shortages of some of the high end stuff, but they still have a lot of stuff and have biased towards cleaning out old inventory first.

I'm not sure Russia would win though - the US seems to be trying to maintain equilibrium - sure there are issues with training, maintenance and the logistics of hardware Ukraine isn't familiar with operating - but I often feel like the US is intentionally dragging this out, doing just enough to keep things in balance, so as to bleed Russia out.

I don’t think there will be any clear winner or looser

Putin wins in rearchitecting his income stream but trashes the economy. Ukraine becomes critically dependant on arms for debt but maintains border. EU has to find new energy and looses resources in africa but can sell tech later. Essentially putin is forcing countries to adapt technology in the long term.
China is busy thibking up ways to counter US intel with manhandling satellites into failure orbits using space drones. Faces challenges in production by india. Wins resources and tech to keep ahead of india.

All the conflict does is pushes up the level of debt - who owns more IOUs becomes the political winner?

The coming winter and what kind of weather we get IMO is likely to be a major deciding factor in this conflict both militarily and within the population in Ukraine and what they might or might not settle for and opinions abroad. As well as the conditions for combat. Russian forces generally seem ill prepared for winter war but if conditions enable massed armour it might be a different matter vs a more stagnant military situation where they'd likely struggle against a major push from Ukraine. Winter conditions generally tend to be pretty grim for war.

Russia has been building up some forces, not yet committed to Ukraine which I wonder if they intend to use if winter conditions allow it for another push like the start of the war - but so far numbers seem far too small to have much impact. If they don't end up thrown into Ukraine beforehand anyhow.

An odd statement to make considering:

The Soviets pulled out of Afghanistan after 10 years with a total of <15000 dead soldiers. It was an abject failure.

Current estimates by CIA/MI6 put a figure of >15000 dead Russians in Ukraine since February.

So how is it going as well as any successful invasion? lol
