Best free/cheap racing games for PC? (Why can't I download Forza 6 Apex?)

As above. Want a cheap and cheerful racer to mess around with using my Xbox 360 controller on my PC. Love F1 but suspect that does not constitute cheap. Don't mind other styles, as long as they are more like real-life racing. (not necessarily hardcore sims though!)

Was looking at Forza Motorsport 6: Apex but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download it. It doesn't appear when I search my Windows store via my PC, and on the link below is just says "Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Premium Edition is currently not available." and the original says "not sold separately" :confused:

I'm running Windows 10, DX 12, i5 w/ 8GB RAM should meet the minimum requirements no? :confused:

Drop me a trust and I can gift you F1 2019 anniversary edition that I got as part of Humble Bundle and never claimed. It's a steam key, hopefully will still work as it doesn't seem to be on Steam anymore

Dirt 2? Horizons, get a month game pass for £1 and try some from that?

Think grid legends is coming to it this week.

What’s Horizons? Forza?

Project Cars 3 is on offer but does it play ok with a controller. Looks like it might be very sim like and difficult? :)
 
Need for speed is a good racing game and some of the other Need for speeds, i would wait till they are on discount because then they are really cheap.
 
Hmm well I see F1 ‘22 is on offer on Steam for £32 which beats cdkeys etc. It’s actually F1 I really enjoy but didn’t want to spend £60 off or whatever it was. Seems to be moderately playable with a controller from what I can tell via YouTubers etc? :confused:
 
Don't want to high jack but is there anything like Gran Turismo on the PC? Tried playing Forza but it just doesn't cut it, I miss starting from nothing and then working my way up. Don't think the PC has anything like Gran Turismo. :(
 
I thoroughly enjoyed Gran Turismo 1 and 2 many years back on playstation 1. I no longer have a Playstation console but, like you, I had a look for something equivalent for PC.

GRID 2019 can be found on the KEY sellers websites for 3 or 4 quid.

I have no idea how well it equates to modern Gran Turismo editions but it is enjoyable.

You need Forza Motorsport, not Forza horizons.

That's the closest simcade game on Xbox/pc. All other sim games are more realistic.

Though i just saw, Forza 7 was removed off sale in Sept 21 due to licensing issues and Forza 8 isn't out until Q1 2023.
