Hi

I'll be looking to get a new PC in the next few weeks and don't know where to start to be honest as been out the loop for a long time.

Usage will be some gaming (older titles mainly that come up for free on Epic, Amazon etc) and used for Twitch DJ streams not games. I currently own a 34" AOC CU34G2 WQHD Curved Gaming CU34G2/BK Maximum Resolution: 3440 x 1440 100hz and I have several mechanical HDDs 1tb upwards for main storage but would need NVME/SSD for the OS etc.

Budget would be under £1000 with everything required apart from the above. No preference to Intel or AMD just want best bang for buck.

I'm not going to list out a build for you, I'll let someone else do that. I just wanted to let you know that new platforms are on the way, so you may want to consider waiting. AMD's existing AM4 platform is great, but it won't leave much, if any, room for upgrade in the future as they're now moving to the AM5 socket/platform. New Intel chips are expected soon and new GPUs are expected to be announced within the next couple of months. Just a heads up.

Ok thanks, I'm not in any rush if it means systems are better/faster but does that come at a cost. Will older stuff drop in price to clear stock. I really not that bothered about top end. It's mainly for Twitch I use my PCs. I say PCs because I have to have a PC for running Traktor dj software and then another PC to run the OBS streaming software. COmbining the 2 on same PC kills the CPU and I need to upgrade really. The games side of it is because I have amassed 100s of games from Epic/Steam/Amazon for free.

Ok, I am backkkkkk and really want to sort this next week. Is this basket ok now? Very similar to before @dfour but without the keyb/mouse and i opted for a 1tg NVME and 3rd party cooler. Will this cpu cooler fit in the case/motherboard with no restrictions? Also will I be able to migrate my existing Win 10 OS/licence to the new PC, been a long time since I did that too.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £972.91 (includes delivery: £0.00)

No the cooler wont fit as they dont have any socket 1700 fittings for it.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £30.95 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Has the fittings needed for the same money.

As you have a bit more money I would suggest going for a 750 watt psu just to give you some potential future upgrade potential. Its out of stock at ocuk but can be had for the same price at other shops if ocuk dont get it back in stock.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £79.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Yes you can switch your win 10 licence between builds easily if you have a microsoft account set up for your current build.

ok thanks for the updates :)

incidentally I tried doing an AMD build but it was coming out more expensive, I always thought Intel were that little bit more. Maybe I was getting a better CPU or something.

Intel had to drop there prices overall as AMD was becoming more competative and overtaking the previous Rocket lake series with the 5000 series ryzen.

AMD build (the 5600x can be had for £180 at other stores or 5600 non-X for £150) making it £20 cheaper with the same board as the intel build I did or £40 cheaper with the 5600 non-X

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £338.98 (includes delivery: £0.00)

The 5700x/5800x is more expensive but has more cache and cores/threads.
