Pretty sure this guy has never been near a battlefield.

If you ask the random public on the streets of Russias largest cities if they are willing to go fight even if they know they'll die, pretty sure you'll get a nyet out of them.

The situation with the Soviets and Germany was different, back then it was a fight for survival, conflict in Ukraine is not important to most regular people.

I should imagine the average Russian will be furious with Putin for embarrassing them militarily on the world stage, he's shown them how pathetic their armed forces are in the face of opposition.

They seem to think they have a limitless population number and really for the size of the country, the population is small and shrinking. That shrinkage will only get worse if you send off your young men to get killed.

Whilst the concept of those losses is still there, I suspect that Internet and modern life may have changed those opinions somewhat
