Are you serious? China's economy is on the brink of collapse due to a bursting property bubble and continuous Covid lockdowns. Unfortunately the effects of this will effect the whole world and could destabilize peace in the region as the Chinese leaders try to blame anyone but themselves.
A slightly more positive result maybe an incursion into the collapsing Russian federation when they sense weakness.

Last thing we need is an even bigger China.
For the west it's a mild inconvenience and also a chance to get rid of its 2-3 decade old weaponry to make way for new shiny stuff.
China has problems of its own and is sabre rattling Taiwan as a distraction for its plebs.
Unfortunately for those 20k Russians trapped in Kherson, they won't be getting the winter gear that NATO countries are currently prepping to ship to Ukraine.
Just because Russia has a rep for winter fighting doesn't mean they are any tougher than you or I to cold. It could claim maybe 25% of them with frostbite.
If they make a fire the new mortar drones fitted with thermal cameras will pick it up and with no tree leaf cover will be blown to bits.
My worry is next winter. If the war lasts, Russia won't give Europe another chance to fill up it's gas storage next time so we need to speed up LNG shipping infrastructure. Fracking is not a quick turn-around.
Happened back in February when they stalled at Kiev and that was at the end of winter when it was becoming milder .

What screws, they have no screws left to tighten. It will not be over by Christmas but they can't weaken Europeans resolve as most Europeans don't give a toss about this war.Which Christmas?
No, certainly it will not be, in my humble opinion. This winter is an ideal opportunity for Russia to really tighten the screws and try and weaken European resolve.
Potentially a sign that they have decided to give up taking it this year?

Definitely not. Russia still holds ~20% of Ukraine, IIRC. It will take a huge amount of work to finish this.

It's critical infrastructure for the civilian populations, not the military. Russia knows that but it still makes a mockery of their claims to be there to liberate the civilian populations from their 'nazi' government. Not that it was ever in doubt anyway!

I wonder if there's been any wooden vehicle decoys around Kherson to bait Russia into expending massive amounts of munition for nothing?
Gotta also wonder about new UAF battle groups forming faster now that we can train them more quickly as well.
