What to do in Leicester? Visiting over the bank holiday

blatantly not cricket, it's the most pacifying game there is

You would have thought. The whack of willow on leather, the clapping from the stands as be-jerseyed umpires give fours and sixes. The hurrah of the fielding team as the batsman is given out. Sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake and tea as the sides change over.

Was it not cricket that kicked it off? Whatever it is now racial and religious intolerance in the streets of a UK City. The police need to act strongly.

How strongly? Surely you aren't talking of extremes? Not getting down on BOTH knees....? :) "Talking" to these factions is like involving yourself in a violent dispute between a man and wife, there may be a temporary lull (while they join forces to both fight YOU), before they return to battering each other again.

If mass unrest is to become commonplace the police need properly arming, and have the backing of their peers to support whatever action those at the forefront tasked with quelling it deem necessary. Until such a time as they are correctly equipped perhaps the army could be called in to re-establish order in a timely manner? I can see this spreading.

Ignore? No. But don't tar everyone of a race or religion or region with the same brush. And I use that phrase in its most ironic way.

Slap the offender's with proper justice but don't go round demonising everyone because of the actions of a few.

The lack of humane policing, education and job opportunities is why people in crappy areas get disenfranchised, so building a wall or ghetto is the worst idea ever. Like all our cities there are crapholes. Not everywhere in this country can be idyllic middle-England which is where I expect Mister Wilson resides.

I don't even know why I'm posting in here as the usual opinions will continue to float like turds to the top no matter the flushing from me.
Utter claptrap.

Will the apologists ever learn?

Ah yes, their behaviour is all someone else's fault...

I've just come back from a Muslim country, not once did I see trouble, feel threatened or think to myself I'd rather be somewhere else.

What relevance does that have to anything?

It's like saying you visited Dubai but didn't see the slaves working as maid/migrant workers in bad conditions on construction sites.

Maybe a Buddhist could visit both protestant and catholic communities in NI during the height of the troubles and have no issue from either group.

On the other hand, some Muslims living in India or some Hindus or Christians living in Pakistan might have rather different experiences of sectarian violence.

There is a history multi ethnic violence like this.

I remember it happened in Birmingham about a decade ago.

There seems to be low level antagonism.

As Cameron said years ago, multiculturalism has failed. But since then nothing as been done to address it or solve the problem.

We have a weak British identity. So there is no incentive to integrate on that level.

Cricket is just the fuse that light the fire its Indians vs Pakisttanis which everyone is failing to say because they're terrified of being accused of being racist, or something. Their countries have been at each others throats for some time now watching the Michael Palin repeat of his visit there the other night they have elaborate border post ceremonies where they basically glare at each shout a lot and bang the border gates shut, was quite a spectacle. Theres always a simmering tension between the two countries and especially over Kashmir. All this is imported onto our streets.

All these people mentioned above are not representative of the millions of followers of Islam.

Stop fuelling the racist media fervour and see it for what it is, idiots and misguided outliers.

Multicultural country or a Muslim country?
