100% front lifter the two cars I’ve driven it make the noise when lifter is active I even commented how comical it sounds, the noise ceased when the lifter was lowered.

The lift is ‘powered’ by the power steering pump. All McLaren cars make a noise like that irrespective of lift up or down which comes and goes in intensity and pitch. You can hear this from very first second the car is started but it intensifies when the lift is up.

Viewed three 600LT on Saturday and all were rough or a poor spec for not great price.

Then spoke to McLaren dealer down south about a green MSO car as they were will to knock a further 10k off so I did some due diligence on the car and found social media post of it been tracked and remapped to 700 plus horsepower so that’s the second car I’d buy dismisses due to been mapped in the past, both have warranties but should I need to claim for engine or drivetrain probably be much hassle.

Today I viewed this:

Was hoping sun might come out so I could see the colour pop as it’s volcano red.

But it’s perfect spec wise, a proper MSO car with carbon louvred wings and full carbon sills along with bucket seats and red stitching throughout with 12 speaker stereo.

11,800 miles and two owners, a 2020 car so still under manufacturers warranty.

I am so tempted my only slight quibble is the colour in the shade is more a wine, dark metallic red colour and in the sun they pop it also has a liquid appearance.

Done lots of due diligence and can’t find any evidence of track abuse or tuning, the brake disc were pretty clean as well.

Gonna sleep on it but this could be the one.

The roads today, empty so great fun in the Exige there and back. :)

and you dont track them either , right Gibbo ? ;)

im going to say it, BEST COLOUR, GET IT

Track is fine when people take care of stuff.

I witnessed a guy destroy his ceramics on a brand new 992 GTS in one track day at Donnington when I told him he should warm up and do at least two cooling laps his response was I don’t care it will be gone next year.

The car I looked at today was at Spa this year but the guy knows how to drive and look after cars as he has quite a nice collection.

Most 600LT have been abused due to the silly cheap PCP deals they did to shift them, so people never intended to keep the car but just ragged it for two years and then handed back, even worse to find some have been mapped. This will be like the 8th or 9th car I viewed they are a bit of a minefield. :(

Even worse is there is only 150 cars to begin with, so not easy if many are ragged, abused or been messed with in the past.

Two cars for sale online with Mclarens warranties that are very nice on paper have been remapped to 700+ in their past and when spending this sum of money on a car that is known to have reliability issues you want to stay well clear of any cars that could give McLaren wriggle room to not honour a warranty claim.

Why would anyone remap a poo car, especially one that's not exactly slow (I've not looked at the specs but assume it's reasonably "brisk". Interesting to see cars like that actually being driven, that one must have clocked ip more miles that many normal cars, as it was the height of lockdown (maybe lock down is the reason it got driven i suppose).

Mclarens do seem to attract a mixed crowd with a good proportion being those who just want the car for the views or youtube hits, or due to the crazy cheap PCP deals they did never ever intended to keep the car so just felt it was a free ticket to abuse and meddle with the car and then just hand it back. It has made my search somewhat more difficult, I think with the 458, the first car I test drove I nearly purchased but they would not budge, so I carried on looking and the yellow car I now own was the 3rd or 4th I looked at, the others had no issues so to speak, whereas I've looked at twice as many Mclarens and some just seem rough or have been abused or have really odd specifcation.

The car at Baytree is an absolute gem, it is spotless and the exterior is perfect for me, Helios orange my favourite colour, it has no louvred wings which are lovely to have but it has exposed carbon packs 1&2, its main issue is the very rare nappa leather interior, also very undesirable, I found its advert for when it sold in 2020 at £225,000, so at £159,000 they are taking a big hit, but to me as its clearly very hard specification to sell on I'd be at 145k on that car, its big advantage is the exterior and 2000 miles, its downside is the wrong seats (fixable for 10k) but leather interior maybe never fixable, hence needs to be cheap.

A green MSO car at mclaren dealership as come down a lot in price to the point I was tempted but some searching around revealed heavy track use, but even worse a remap to 700+ horsepower, this is a car for sale at a Mclaren dealership and has worn disc, it really does prove to me and all garages are nearly guilty of this, all these 100+ point inspections on iused cars is nothing short of lies, the car comes in, they kick the tyres, give it a valet and stick it in the showroom, inspection done, not all garages are guilty of this but in my experience most are.

The yellow MSO car in Brighton has also been mapped too, also been sold with warranty but at a third party garage.

Minefield!

100%. Unless they are doing a 100+ point inspection before they buy it, they're never incentivised to find stuff that will lower the value.....

Glad you ignored my typo :p . Seems wierd as I'd say I've seen more ferrari than mclarens around, might just be hulls a bit too poor.

What are these crazy cheap PCP deals?

Not available any more but when the 600LT came out Mclaren struggled to sell them, reminds me of the M3 CSL days.
So people were getting deals as crazy as just £10,000 deposit and then £800-£1200 monthly for two years and then just hand the car back with no hidden charges.

In short a brand new supercar for 30k for two years, which in the world of brand new supercars to only have 15k loss per year is great going, hence now why so many cars have come back to market but also unfortunately why so many are abused or tampered with.

Base price was 209k plus options, most cars seem to be around 240-270k with options when new, but dealers were also discounting upto 50k of the price for those buying outright as well, gentlemen I know got his brand new for 200k, its MSRP was 250k with the options it had, so he got 50k off. His is identical spec to the red one but Volcano Yellow and Senna seats.

The Baytree car my guess is the original owner got no discount as he was selling it a year later with 500 miles for 225k, which I guess the second owner paid roughly, its now for sale at 159k and has been since November last year, very rare spec but hard to move on due to leather interior and comfort seats, plus now no warranty either as they let it expire....

That’s certainly a very good deal for what you’re getting!

Yeah it is fair, prices are softening.
Only other car I've been offered that is also very clean is a Mclaren Orange (flat orange), CF packs 1&2 externally, but roof is black which is not to my taste as Mclarens already have so much black on them or as they call it dark palladium. interior is similar, buckets, orange stitching, 12 speaker audio. 2700 miles and £160,000, warranty about to expire though so I'd have £2500 cost to fund immediately so 162k VS 155k, a case of lower mile car VS higher spec in rarer colour and built by MSO.

I prefer the volcano in all honesty as I like the MSO bits on it and the rarer colour even though on a dull day especially if the car is dirty it may look a little underwhelming.
I've not pulled trigger yet but think it is the one for me as on the sunny day it will look incredible.

I think it would take a Helios orange in same spec and similar price to beat this one, as the flat oranges though always bright I am not so keen on.

This Macca looks like an absolute winner.

And saying the paint doesn't look as amazing in cloudy weather is like saying a supermodel girlfriend doesn't look as good when wearing joggers and a hoody :p

Proper garage and house goals right there.

I was going to say a man with that garage and incredible Italian bike collection really should have a Ferrari, then I caught a wee glimpse of the car behind the 600LT..... 348? :D
