Just a quick one, after looking at silly big cars I did the (??) sensisbe (??) option of grabbing an R53 Cooper S instead, car is all fine after a bargain price and new alternator, but ideally wanting to move the plate off it to retentinons or maybe sell it on at some point, its a standard AA00 AAA format plate, apparently went on the car in 2013 but unable to find if this was purchased (If so why? seriously? WHY?) or the original plate that went on after a custom one came off.

I'm just a bit confused as to why it is marked as "none transferable" so I can't even put it on retention!

Could anyone shed any light on this?

There was a thread about this awhile ago where it was due to the registered use of the vehicle or something - mobility? I can't recall why.

Oh right, i'll go digging, my bad!

Not sure the Cooper S is the best disability related vehicle out there! :D

I couldn't find it from a quick look or I'd have linked to it - someone had a similar issue and had to change the registered use of the vehicle first or something but I don't recall.

This happens when you transfer the original registration off a car (Rather than transferring a new one onto the car).

The replacement that gets issued becomes non-transferrable. It's to stop people with older cars basically 'making' old age related plates by transferring them off a car all the time.

Oh right, great so essentially people abused the system and now ruined even being able to retain the plates for people who legitimately wanted to do it? :(

Just leave the plate on the car drive it and enjoy the couple of hundred quid you save by not changing the numbers on the front!
