The 4000 series prices already put me off building a PC. That is the cherry on top.

Thing is, 15 years ago I'd happily end up spending the 5k it would cost to build the PC I wanted (or whatever cost relative to time), but I'd be irresponsible, use credit cards etc. Now I can afford, I don't want to. I don't think I could enjoy using it knowing how much it all cost when I am content playing on PS5 and SX. Different circumstances for all etc but my mentality to it all has changed as I have grown up.

Have to agree. I'm very price sensitive and only just upgraded to an 5700X.

Bought my PSU on sale, RAM and motherboard second hand. Can't see myself getting a 4080 12gig any time soon. Can't see myself spending $300/£300 on a board first gen board.

Will wait for ITX boards to hit the second hand market to even consider an upgrade.

no point shelling out for itx tax lol
the new graphics cards are 3 slots or bigger, so price-wise, might as well save a few bob and get matx as you'd need a larger case anyway

I'm sure that there will be some less insane coolers coming out. I saw that the smallest GPU cooler from asus is 3.14 slots in width. That's mad.

I think people will start AIO cooling their RTX 40 series if the sizing remains insane. Something I have looked into myself as my 3080 FE does run hot.

For me, PC gaming was always about excess, getting something way more powerful than was realistically required for all but a handful of games.
Sure, I could build a cheaper one but that defeats the point for me.

Is disappointing, but then for most people a B650 will be sufficient and they will apparently be released only a week after the X670 boards.

Sorry, PC gaming is literally going to crash. Good, I am glad, it needs one.

So like £400 for the base models, and then top models closer to £1000 and halo models above £2000?
