I’m not sure I follow.
i would argue the foundation of ww1 was set in 1850 and the scramble for Africa.
Saudi Arabia has Pakistani nukes to top the chinese IRBMs they haveOnly have to look at the towns around Chernobyl as a study. Life will find a way, but emerging from a bunker you may find that it's still lethal to you for many decades to come.
With the corruption sucking the life out of Russia, I suspect that the rich plan involved sailing to some country.. like Dubai. If a global war started Iran would be all out attempting to nuke Dubai. A big oversight, and those that had planned on a safe bunker may find it was never even built by the contractor sunning themselves in Dubai.
The modern world and it geo political challenges. Hobsbawm would say WW1 started in 1789 and the French Revolution. You can go as far back as the Roman empire.

To be honest, I've lived in much worse looking places with the British Army - at least they have a roof.No point buying them beds, they're off to the frontline soon with 1940's rifles
You were probably less likely to get shipped off with lack of training, gear, weapons to a country where let's be honest you're probably gonna die.To be honest, I've lived in much worse looking places with the British Army - at least they have a roof.
Yes, certainly had more than a few weeks training and my training team were very good. Not so sure about the equipment, the first time I had a body armour plate issued it was cracked in half - storeman said not to worry about it!You were probably less likely to get shipped off with lack of training, gear, weapons to a country where let's be honest you're probably gonna die.
If there's a full on nuclear world war there may not be a human race to rebuild. If by some miracle there is there will be large sections of the planet uninhabitable for a very long time to come.

you do realise modern day nukes are more powerful by factors in the hundreds? hiroshima was 15 kilotons both sides have nukes around the megaton mark that they have admitted to publicly, secretly i'd imagine theres proably bigger hidden away still, Tsar Bomba for example was 57 Megatons,The inconvenient truth is that nukes aren't actually that powerful and that the Earth's habitable land masses are absolutely huge. South America and most of Africa will likely escape completely. India and China - if they got involved - would actually benefit from massive population loss. Sure nukes are good at taking out towns (or military formations) but most towns are quite far apart. The buildings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were largely wooden so burned easily. It's very telling that the stone and brick buildings largely survived. And there aren't any Tsar Bombas any more.
One reason the nuclear powers are dreading the first nuclear war is that it will show nukes - particularly tactical nukes - for what they are.

In explosive power, yes. But that doesn't actually make as much difference as you clearly think: the Earth is big, really big.
Those killed by the blast will be the lucky ones.
