So we have a dead RX 580 8G, it will need to be replaced with minimum cost. the card did what was needed perfectly there is no need to replaces but....

So if we wanted the same performance or maybe 10% more, buying new cards what would be the cheapest replacement.
The card is for my 14 year old son that only plays indie type games on steam, all other gaming is done on console with friends.

what are the rules on offering a used older GPU on these forums? Generally do not know and dont want to risk breaking one
The rules are that all selling has to be via the Members Market, but to access this you need to have over 1000 posts have been a member for a period of time.

thank you zola25. that settles that for me :) I guess I have some posting to do.

ah ok Wing-Man. fair enough. cheapest AMD card I can see of OC is an AMD 6600 for £299. I cant see anything from NVIDIA less than that.

its not about price i said would would get me the same level of performance(+10%)

yeah sorry but you did also say "buying new cards what would be the cheapest replacement." I went off that. the 6600 would be the cheapest replacement as well as a performance increase. you could go for the 6700 non xt in case he wants to venture out of indie games a little. but this will be for around £50 more

for performance E.g Every time someone says me gpu died and all i do is watch youtube everyone specs them a 3090.
there is a difference between minimum cost needed and money been a problem

i wont be buying used you dont know what your getting and it its dead after 46days there no money back / warranty

The sad reality is the RX 580 is the last of a dying breed of graphics card that actually offered genuine value for money at a reasonable price. Brand new they were around £220 to to £250 for a mid range card with 8Gb of memory, such a card no longer exists these days, for the same price of a RX580 back in 2017 cards today will give worse performance and less VRAM. Your best bet is going 2nd hand if you want to replace the minimum cost with => performance otherwise you looking at £300 for a RX 6600.

if you dont want to go used. which is fair enough. warranty in this day and age is important. the 6600 does look like a good value card for what is needed with a performance upgrade. might be worth looking at the 6700 non xt tho as you would get even more performance for not too much more

Whilst you don't know what you're getting second hand, the low end market is so crap at the moment you would have to go through about 3/4 RX 580s second hand before you get to the cost of the 6600...

Second hand high street store does warranty? Buy vouchers @ lower than cost and might be a better option?

Failing that, the 6600 will be the cheapest you can seem to get at the moment.

If they're only indie games what iGPU does the PC have? If you're on Ryzen might be worth looking at a 5600g.

i do get what your saying, my 6600xt cost(£520) the same as a 6750xt dose now a few months ago...
I could put my GPU in his system and grab myself a new 6750xt i do like the reference look GPU, i assume a better GPU for my 1440p 144Hz monitor. right now i have to set games to max setting 1080.

if i said spend 500, i could get a 6750xt or 3070 whats the best option
