Hi all,

I've been suffering overheating problem on my 3090 for a little while which has now become unusable. Temps on the die hitting 107c.

Spoke with zotac this morning who said they don't do this under warranty and that I should do it myself.

Their advice was if you remove the cooler it voids your warranty but if it's rma'd they don't open the card up anyway. So just do it yourself.

I figure since I'm opening the card up anyway might as well replace the thermal pads. Does anyone have any recommendations on which pads to buy. Also sizes would be great I've heard 2mm front and 3mm on the back is that correct?

I'm not getting something here.

"Become unusable". So its faulty and you apply for an RM-Auth?

Or are Zotac refuting this stating fan noise levels at those temps are still within acceptable parameters? Or you admitted to them in email already you had used it for mining [= business purposes?]

Thsnk God all my zotacs 2080ti and 3090 Ave had zero problems that's why I'll bee sticking with them.. and besides I only use my PC at the weekends..

Ok too me it's unusable. Fan noise is unbearable due to running at 95% constantly. It's thermal throttling too along with micro stutters. What I understand from zotac is they do nothing until it's actually broken.

thats the temp on the GPU 107c ? or is that the vram ?

Fan noise at 95% is already broken.
Ask them directly for RMA status, no uncertain terms. If they refuse, you go to the retailer.

Edit: To be clear, this isn't benchmarking? This is all the time in games?
Edit: @uscool He stated "on the die".

Yeah I know but I figured taking the cooler off could damage the old stock ones. I just want to know which ones are best to use
107c would be easy to replicate for Zotec and its obviously not right they dont need to open it for see it has issue , RMA it

why risk opening it and it not fixing the issue and thats warranty void

so basically you cant RMA it, so its off eBay or whatever. because if you could you would the card looks to be faulty.

so now you need to open it and see what pads are in there because only people with the same card would know.
they could be anything from 0.3mm to 5mm pads.

why cant he RMA it if its under warranty and he is reporting the GPU temp is hitting 107c ?? they wouldnt even need to open it just need to test it and see the temps not right , why risk opening it and not fixing the issue and warranty is gone ???

buy a card used = no warranty

Used / B-Grade / System pull and so on anything that's not from a shop of some sort = no warranty
if it was part of a bundled system they would want the full system back not just the GPU
