Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Not as if Labour needed any help winning the next election thanks to the Tory horror show but i think Starmer has prob got himself a winning tagline promising to start a Gov owned energy supplier
I don't think you're wrong there. For the past few years I've had a dislike of Labour (and the Conservatives), but their energy plans and tactical voting means they will likely get my vote at the next election. Anything is better than these self-serving Conservative scum bags. They have no shame at all.

My energy costs have been about £55 per month (live alone not been in much , havnt been using gas , apart from hob for food now and again).

Bulb have applied sent me an email saying that my direct debit will be £1 . Until I see the statement is have to check..what do they do send a certain amount in credit in to the account every month I assume.

I don't have any credit on the account I think I'm.about 20p in Debit..

I only pay for what I use.

At least that money tree will result in something that benefits my kids in 15 years, unlike the billions the Conservatives have given to the rich. All of the western nations are now approaching a form of nationalised power and we need to do the same.
Not disagreeing it’s going to be beneficial. I’m all for green energy measures. Just the irony of more borrowing. I guess in a few years time when we are past the recession it will be a good opportunity to raise the funding.

Borrowing for investment in infrastructure is fine, never had an issue with it, borrowing for tax cuts on the other hand.

IF labour are genuine about going all in on green energy it will get my vote. only snag is we will have no idea if they go through with it until they get in. starmer has already backtracked on some of his ideas.

I think after years of blatant lying from government, be it building hospitals, levelling up or what ever, my initial stance is assume what ever they say is a lie. which is a sorry state of affairs.
so I probably will vote for labour next time in the hope they do what they say.... but I am not confident in any of them tbh

Anyone with Eon-Next? Not sure if it is some sort of weird muck up but I had an email on the 26th that they are taking two separate direct debits. At least that's what it looks like. One of £247 from the 05th and one of £133 on the 1st. I have always historically paid on the 1st and only 1 payment? I am also £344 in credit.

Unless I am reading it wrong and I am going to pay £133 this coming month then £247 from then on?

Someone earlier posted a similar thing and it was explained / attributed to being the new DD amount (the £247.60) and then what you'd actually be paying for the next 6 months (the £133), taking into account the £400 from the gov.

I thought the government were only giving us £67 a month (which I thought was already taken off the 247.60 amount). That's a £114 pound difference?

the £247.60 will be the increased DD amount (price increase & winter usage) without government intervention for November payment, but the bill when it is sent will actually be
247.60-67= £180 in Nov bill (like this one is 200-67=133)

Labour still haven't talked about energy storage - just waving the renewable green flag, maybe that's sufficient for the electorate
... they all bought smart meters even if that won't tell you how much your oven or airfryer consumes
california is commissioning battery/other storage

Exactly, your current DD is £200, less the £67 makes £133 as your next payment. Before the £66 is considered they had calculated your DD needed to increase to £247, however once the credit is applied it will actually be about £180 for the next 5 months.

I would go with the 1st Oct being £133 (bawd on old unit rate before Oct increase) and then 1st Nov - 1st March being £180.60 (your new unit rate from 1st Oct)

i am no red voter - never voted labour before so next election could be a 1st..... but we are still some time yet.. they dont need to spill their full load yet. It is obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that storage has to be part of any renewable package and i hope Labour act on that. (that is giving the benefit of the doubt that the whole thing isnt hot air)

but either way for my vote it isnt really important. for what.... 12 - will be likely 14 years by the time the election comes - we will have had an inept, corrupt government, breaks the rules with impunity and happy to tank the economy and do their best to hide the costings of their nonsense because they know it wont work and are just helping their donors..... (i would not be surprised if a few of them who knew what was coming were happy to short the £ and make bank because they knew the effect it would have!)

so bottom line for me (not speaking for anyone else) Labour dont really have to be all that to be better than what we have... i just want the current lot out and will vote tactically for whoever ever that takes in my constituency. For me it is way beyond blue, red, yellow or green now, it is just about getting this vile lot out.

PS i do not understand this problem some have with smart meters.....without them you cant make use of taking advantage of the wild daily energy fluctuations in price, and this is something that is going to have to happen going forward imo.

Labour need to sort out Scotland if they are to get a majority. Can’t do it with England alone.

Bulb want me to go from £290 a month to £463 a month.

That £463 a month "includes" the £66 a month discount..... Jesus wept...

I'm £460 in credit at the moment.

Mental that they think my useage over next 6 months or so will be £2.5k or so.....

Put your actual usage in here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/what-are-the-price-cap-unit-rates-/

Take the "New incl £400 off" figure, deduct your credit and divide by 12. You'll have a pretty good idea how much you'd have to pay per month to end up with a zero balance in a year's time.

It'd be interesting to see the result.
