Hi,

I have an old 1150 build comprising of a Gigabyte Z97x-G7 BOARD and a i5-4670K CPU and 16GB of VIPER Patriot DDR3 MEMORY.

My problem is the GPU is an ancient GTX 750Ti (2GB).

I think I'm looking for something that runs all games at a reasonable level, not worried about co-op, just single player mainly.

Money wise would be at least as possible, these days.

What are my options please.

Thanks

Alex

The best value upgrade would be a RX 6600 for £260(ish). The RX 6700 has been as low as £300, but unfortunately it appears to be £350 now. I think the 3060 Ti FE is a better buy at that price, which appears to be available again (...for now). They can all do 1080p fine, 1440p in older games or with the details down a bit. 4K: not really, but in very old games (or with scaling), yes.

Thanks for the reply.

Monitor 1440 It is a DELL S2721DGFA
Budget is 200-300 Very Max

I haven't got a preference. To be honest I am not sure if I should just look for a 4GB card or future proof a little and look for a 6GB/8GB card.
At that budget I guess a 4GB!

Bang for the buck right now is the RX 6600.

But new GPUs are being released which will affect prices.

Don't buy a 4GB 6400/6500, they'll be bottlenecked by the old motherboard and the 1630 is poor value for the price they're asking. Those cards are already struggling with new games at decent details (especially at 1440!). The RX 6600 is worth the extra.

you have a great 1440p 165hz screen is try and get as good as cars as possible to make 1440p as smooth as possible. 6600xt or 6650xt or 6700 if you can push your budget. You may be able to find used if prices don’t come down a bit more. I’m not as familiar with the 2xxx series so can’t comment if like a used 2060 super or 2070 would do 1440p just fine

Like Leww and Tetras have said the best new options are the 6600, 6600xt, 6700 or 3060ti FE. If you cannot get one of these at a decent price, with the pound and rebates changing the price is very volatile, then you can look at the second hand market.

Second hand cards to consider are all listed in the TPU review that Tetras has linked.

They are imo:

2060 - do not buy for over £200
1660ti
5700
5700xt - If you get get a decent one of these for under £200 its the best option
1070/1080 - Getting old so if you bought one it could fail within a couple of years

It is odd looking at the second hand market because the 5700xt will often be cheaper than the 5700 and evern 5600xt because there are more of them for sale.

Do not buy a 6400/6500 or 3050, they are very poor cards.
