Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

pretty sure the base load of the house was 400 - 600w last time I tested a year ago.

to be honest just normal living:
daily showers
oven/ microwave usage, kettle, coffee machine (probably this lol)
Fridge/freezer (uses nothing practically)
washing machine every other day and likely along with tumble dryer (heat pump)
Computers are on a lot due to working from home
TV couple hours a night

now admittedly I do still have my hot tub running at the moment and I have done for years as its regularly monitored and with it off I only save 5KW of usage, even with that off i tend to have high usage.
possibly thinking the neighbors are connected up as they were connected to my water usage!

That is a baseload 6x higher than mine (100W), you definitely need to figure that out.

600w base load is NOT normal.

That’s over 14kwh a day just idle or 5256 kWh a year.

A typical house will consume 2900kwh in totality.

Even 400w is very high.

Yeah, same here, that's £1.60 just "idle" for 8 hours every night while everyone is asleep, or £600/year!

For comparison, our usage was:

~7,000 kWh electric over the last 12 months with a PC mining 24/7 the whole period and a heated 10ft pool running for several weeks over the summer - this will drop quite significantly, as no longer mining, and the way prices are going, no pool next summer either.
~ 12,000 kWh gas for central heating set to 21c, hot water (including showers), oven and hob (edit: this is basically the average used for the cap, but we've dropped the thermostat to 19c and installed some extra loft insulation so hopefully will drop a bit)

My last full month without heating.

70 pounds.

I've got into the habit of submitting meter reads the last day of the month. This generates a bill.
Should allow me to easily see the impact of my heating

Does anyone else use way in excess of the average household amounts?
we seem to average between 21 - 27kw of electricity usage a day, now lights and goods are switched off when not in use and, to be honest, large electric usage has always seemed the norm.
I'm just interested to know how people manage these super low usages.

Damn. Even with a 10kw electric shower I never got over 11kw a day.

Its usually 8

You're using over 2x our amount, nearly 3x

(2 adults, 0 kids, 2 WFH adults, 10KW electric shower, plasma tv)

Octopus finally emailed me.

Summary, I got the DD info in the email.
Agile is included in EPG, if dynamic rates go above 34p, it will be reduced to 34p.
A frankness that they had the info weeks ago but they delayed the communication to hand flexible customers first.

Tracker isnt mentioned at all in the email but a few on MSE saying its covered. Logically it will be covered if they done Agile.

Really happy to be on trackers now.

Gas has been cheaper for days on end now, today 8p unit. Electric dropped to below 20p today as well.

You'll be paid for every unit of electricity you use tomorrow between 02:30-05:30."
does sound good if they persistently have unit costs less than 34p ... but I still didn't understand how you stuck with agile at 40p+ over last month.

20p a unit for electricity??

I am capped to 35p, starting October capped to 34p.

The 55p agile is now going to be capped at 37p so becomes worthwhile as well now.

Scottish Power and the BBC News have encouraged everyone to submit meter readings today. Predictable result = 52 minute wait to sign into the Scottish Power app. Knew this would happen so submitted readings last night, guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see my updated bill. Website side is also a 52 minute wait so they've set up a separate form to submit meter readings. :D

I was getting paid 10p/kW this time last year on Agile! Yes, PAID.

The spikes are wildly up and down but it's a good tariff and I used their API to build a custom daily dashboard that sat on the tablet in the kitchen.

Alas I'm just on borin' ol Intelligent now...

Octopus are putting us on the Flexible Tarrif tomorrow but I'm thinking it may be better to stay on our fixed plan.

Prices are as follows as I pay for 2 properties.

Current Elec Prop 1.
Unit: 37pkwh
Standing Charge: 48p

Flex Tariff:
Unit: 33pkwh
Standing Charge: 47p

Current Gas Prop 1.
Unit: 12pkwh
Standing Charge: 27p

Flex Tariff:
Unit: 10pkwh
Standing Charge: 26pkwh

Current Gas Prop 2.
Unit: 19pkwh
Standing Charge: 27p

Flex Tariff:
Unit: 10pkwh
Standing Charge: 26p

Elec on Prop 2 is under the Tesla plan so haven't included that. I'd benefit on Prop 2 more, however my Gut just says to pay the extra and stay fixed incase wholesale prices rise a considerable amount. What would you guys suggest?

All this competitive talk about different schemes and tariffs kind of kyboshes Labour's wish for a unified national approach.

Still not heard a peep out of Sainsbury's Energy about new pricing, direct debit changes or how they are implementing the government aid. Pretty pathetic as they are supposed to contact everyone by the 1st October!!

Don't forget to get your meter reads in tonight.

As the winter arrives we will find out whether those flexible tarifs do give any rates significantly less than SVR , I think we'll find there is unification.
- Octopus AGILE from chrcoluk's comment have been locked at 35p during september for him, which is more than 28p svr I'm paying till midnight,

no waiting time on the bulb web site , just now, to submit the reading.
