While true, its also a pretty old house (1950s), with poorly sealed double-glazing, thin loft insulation (working on it!), and as far as I'm aware, no cavity wall insulation, so although it may be smaller, a bigger house but with modern insulation is likely to be more efficient

Gas usage was over 12 months, not sure that temperature has much effect on electric usage (if anything it's increased due to fans & a/c being on!)

Remember that "average" takes into account both you guys with families in your 3-4+ bedroom detached houses and single people in a studio/1 bed flat. Obviously we happen to sit right in the middle, but there will be plenty of households below us in terms of consumption, pulling the average down

This last month when I've been in the office everyday, our electricity usage is down 120kwh since previous months. Our usage so far this year is 10,000kwh gas and 4200kwh electric. If I worked in the office full time that electric use would be over 1000kwh less. I imagine if the wife worked full time and wasn't the coldest person in the world, everything would be less lol.

Not sure, I don't use mine at the moment, it's current usage figures haven't been that helpful since I added the solar.

Generally can get a decent enough picture from daily usage stats out of the Octopus usage online.

I tested my heating out the other day for about an hour, could see it used 1.2m3 of gas in that time, so on the new rates around 13kwh or £1.30~ for an hours heating at full blast.

To be fair, house is fairly well insulated and new build so even being on for an hour it makes a good difference.

I had a letter from eon about rates going up to 45p a kWh for electricity during the day, but I've just logged into the app and it now says 62p a kWh - wtf?

After seeing your post, I decided to check my friend's Octopus account and their standing charges are also higher than the prices given in the email recently - almost 1.5x more for both gas and electric unit rates.

I need to wait about 8 minutes in a queue before I can check my own EDF account, so I will edit this post accordingly in about 10 minutes.

Edit: EDF are showing the correct prices for me.
