Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Just went to update meter readings at Scottish Power website... Currently a queue of ~9mins just to log into account (if you have account details there is a quick link to simply submit readings)!

I did my monthly update like I always do on last of the month. September 30th. Wait time was 1hr 30

Anyone know when we get the 66 pounds?
I assumed mine would come the same time my DD is taken

My supplier are crediting my bank account with it and taking the normal DD.
Mine was credited to my account on the 1st of October.

I'll chase them up if it isn't in by Friday. I expected it 1st or at same time as my bill
According to the email I received with the payment.
"Payments will normally arrive in the first 10 working days of each month"

Shell Energy said they were going to reduce my Direct Debit by £66 and the discount will appear around the 7th of the month. They've taken the full Direct Debit today so I guess I'll see what happens at the end of the week.

Nice bit of interest for the energy suppliers (can't remember if they are allowed to generate interest or credit balances)

So would the DD amount showing on my account also be incorrect?

@Ahleckz

Tagged both of your for different reasons.

@n111ck Comms arent great at the moment. So i just checked my dads account on the app and its showing the reduced DD with the gov support and the correct pricing now. My account on the app is showing the correct pricing but the non-discounted dd amount. The email that was sent out with the dd amount on should be the right one but it seems there are still some issues getting the app/website to show some figures.

@Ahleckz check the app and website, mine and my dads has been updated with the correct rates now

Now sorted, thanks!

Can I add, I’ve been very impressed with Eon Next customer service recently. Quick to reply via Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Get what I need done (amend my direct debit amount, they upped me from £100 to £280. Moved it down to £175) quickly without fuss. Add to that @Zenduri posts here and whilst I believe he’s doing it in a personal capacity, there’s obviously good leadership and a dedication to customer service at Eon Next.

Go give us a 5 star trust pilot review as it heavily effects our bonus based on our trust pilot rating lol :D

Everything I post her is obviously my own personal advice and comments and i try to help people where i can by forewarning of any changes etc. I'm not in a customer facing role but i try to help where i can although i really shouldnt be picking up stuff from a forum as its an iffy area as far as the business is concerned but if anyone asks we are "friends" as they are pretty chill about us helping friends and family with issues lol

After a long wait I finally managed to log into my account. Contrary to what they said Shell have taken my full Direct Debit and also credited me with an extra £66. Maybe they'll refund it later in the week.

...check the app and website, mine and my dads has been updated with the correct rates now

My Online v17 has been updated to reflect the Government Freeze as well so now showing lower prices than yesterday's fix prices.

So it now shows clearly what the unit rates are and also my standard DD amount and actual payment that will be taken after the £67/discount (which was taken this morning)

All very clear

Fair play Eon... Fair play

Not sure I understand what's occurred with the current quarterly electric bill. Last quarter it was just over £1400, the bill for the current quarter came by text this morning and is £977. I am pretty sure the last bill wasn't estimated, but the one before that was estimated. I'm with Scottish Power, not on DD... I think I need to see the full bill and check the meter reading against it, it's hard to see the meter, and the meter reader who came on Saturday was terrified of dogs, so was a bit distracted as there's a kennel run beside the meter box with a singularly bad tempered dog in it :)

Thanks - my online account now shows the correct rates but my DD appears to be based on the old v18 tariff minus the £66.

With the new rates and £66 discount I would have expected my DD to have only gone up by a few % as I was on the SVR until 30.09.

I'll wait for my next bill and see what happens - thanks for responding though.

Just called Octopus to see if I could switch over to their Go Faster tariff (4 hours a night of cheap electricity). Bit annoying that you need to go onto the fully variable first (68p/kwh and 25p standing charge) - for up to 16 days! Can see this becoming a headache...

If you switch to Octopus make sure you use someone's referral code, you split £100 equally, so it's worth it.

This isn't an advert to use mine, but you may know someone who is on it already. You can apply it online after you get into the account even if you sign up on the phone.

The standard variable price should be 34p/kwh for now as per the new variable pricing.

It can take a while to switch to Go because they need to validate your smart meter is working and sending 30m readings before they switch you.

You said go faster, which you need an Ev for, suspect you meant go which you shouldnt need to prove an EV for

Are the v17 rates less than the current EPG capped rates?

Na I have an EV so it was definitely Go Faster. They just said that they need to "onboard the meter" to their system before they can assess the usage that 'closely' and that takes up to 2 weeks.

Need to do my maths though as the gas is being used like it is going out of fashion by my ancient (soon to be replaced boiler) and their gas rate is higher than EON Next.

Ah ok, go faster is 4 or 5 hours and variable start time

When I switched it detected elec meter within 24 hours.
Still got issues with my gas though, they have 2 meters on my account as they picked up my old non smart one as well
