Flying out soon to Hong Kong and I usually grab a local SIM, but searching around apparently it may be easier to get an eSIM instead. Just curious if anyone's had any experience setting up an eSIM for abroad use, for around a couple of weeks? Is it easy or complicated? And once I finish using it, how do I delete it?

What's the install method like? I'm guessing you go on the network's site, purchase an eSIM and then download that to the phone?

Pixel 6. Cheers for the link, so I just go on the site, purchase the eSIM plan then scan the QR code. Doesn't seem so hard. Although Airalo's offer for Hong Kong doesn't offer that much data compared to the local networks there.
You're paying for the convenience of landing, disabling airplane mode, and getting on with your day.

True, but a couple of local networks also offer prepaid eSIM plans which looks like I can purchase and set up here, and I guess I can just activate them on the day I'm flying.
If they're on offer then they will almost certainly be better value than resellers like Airalo.
If they work like Airalo, then the clock doesn't start ticking until you connect to the network on the other side so there's no harm installing it before you go.

Update, just went to one of the local network sites, was much easier to set up than I thought. Picked the plan I wanted, and they emailed me the QR code. Scanned on phone and took a few minutes to download, and it was up and ready to use.
