Hello

So I'm up and running with 1 CPU cable. I've got a MSI z690-A Pro with a 6650XT. The GPU is a PCIE4 card and there is a PCIE5 slot on the motherboard, which should be backwards compatible. But it isn't. I get no end of Windows problems trying to use the card on the PCIE5 slot: the AMD software doesn't recognise the card etc. But it works OK on the PCIE3 slot.

Would be nice not to hamstring the card in a slower slot right out of the box - has anyone else experienced and solved this?

Thanks,

Have you tried changing the pcie speed in the bios ? From 5 to 4 or 3.

Mite be worth updating the bios .

Seems to be working now - although I can only flash it to the penultimate BIOS version, not the latest. Weirdly the board doesn't see the latest BIOS on my USB drive.

Thanks for being there - the panic was real!
