I'd rather vote for Tony the singing Dustman than replace one horrible lot with another horrible lot. We're never going to get out of the mess if people keep voting the status quo. The whole lot need flung out from both parties, career politicians do not work. They're failures.
 
The mini Budget was hardly radical it changed the overall tax burden to what, 2021 levels! But the economy was ripe for a fall and it was enough to trigger the herd. If it hadn't been this it would have been something else.

We haven't been fiscally prudent enough for a generation and we have ignored growth for the same period. The Conservatives may have screwed the pooch but I think the current disaster was baked in a while ago, it was just a matter of timing.
 
What an absolute shower we have in Parliament at the moment...and another absolute shower waiting in the wings.

No wonder this country is in the ****, and no prospect of it getting any better.

You may be right, but why not ask the BoE or OBS for growth forecasts and see how much their tax cuts were going to cost us and what this would do the markets?
Sure, things have been on a downward trend but they massively accelerated it by not seeking advice from experts, or (worse) wilfully ignoring it. It shows utter ineptitude at best and corruption at worst.

Ultimately the job of the PM and chancellor is to ensure stability in the market and economy. Not to take actions that actually tank it. They did exactly this, and they didn’t take any precautions to prevent it.

Competent compared to Kwarteng, but that isn’t a particularly high bar.

Rishi “eat out to help out / write off covid fraud / waste £11bn by not insuring against interest rate rises” Sunak, is hardly a poster boy for “competent chancellor”.

It’s only because the rest of the Tory party is so demonstrably awful that he looks like a decent candidate.

Sell something to the chinese
Sell something to the saudis
Send billions to ukraine to end the war quicker so we can start selling to the russians again
Grant Scottish independance in exchange for North sea gas
Sell North sea gas to the Germans (RWE npower)
Import gas from Germany
Give the money made above to those earning more than £150k a year as they will magic more money from somewhere
Cut public services
Privatize the NHS
Bail out royal mail
Sell off pensions to invest in infrastructure projects which will generate a higher return, then cancel them halfway through. Ensure those running the projects are party donors. Use the left over money to give back to the public in tax cuts so they don't realise we've used up their pensions. Let the next party take the blame.
