Even with my new found wealth I'll still never vote Tory.

Everything will be calmer with Starmer.

In an ideal world, the choice would be to invite over someone who is neither a convicted serial killer nor looks a bit dodgy. However, in order to be able to do that we might have to alter the parameters of the dinner party, so that inviting someone along those lines becomes a possibility
Or, you could consider putting your prejudice to one side.

This is a good article.
Yes until it mentions inflation hitting the UK harder, don't they realise inflation is higher in the EU and much higher in several countries. Perhaps they need to report that as well, I wonder why they don't?

Comparing countries within a monetary union is like comparing rates of inflation between Wales, Scotland, NI, and England. It's largely pointless because when you're in a monetary union you lose some control over the value of the currency, you give up the ability to control the supply and demand of it.

If you're going to compared inflation it has to be done between monetary unions, and i say that not having looked at what the Eurozone inflation is.

Of course. And I’d much prefer a form of PR over FPTP. But at the moment that’s not happening. So let’s be pragmatic about it, stop inviting over the serial killer and at least remove the immediate threat. Then we can worry about finding a new venue and changing the catering.

This analogy is getting a bit long in the tooth now. :D

Comparing countries within a monetary union... that bad EU ? no - monetary union doesn't imply equal outcomes - re-posting
versus uk - french poorest 30% better off, italian 20% worse

It is getting a little long yeah and I'm with you I'd definitely prefer PR over FPTP

He'd be a nightmare. Throwing tantrums left right and centres, by most accounts he's not a nice person to work with. Plus he's been caught out for breaking rules by promoting his business (now belonging to Money Supermarket) in the past.

He cares, but he definitely comes across as having some kind of disorder.
It wasn't a serious comment

What tax increases and public sector cuts are people hoping for now?

Probably 1p extra in tax and a raise of the threshold

As for cuts in services. Don't think there's much to cut.

UK is falling away in places you'd like live.

The sensible option....raise the 40% rate a little and raise the personal allowance. Actually target the assistance where it's most needed.....where the money will get spent and go into stimulating the economy rather than going into a savings account.
