hey guys,

as my SKY contract ends soon, im really considering PlusNet for the next internet service. How are they around? I hear good things..

also, would I be able to buy a independent from the rainforest say, and use that in conjunction with the standard router that PlusNet supply?

If so, would someone recommend a good (and reasonable priced) router.

Also, as my current property has quite think walls, any MESH systems worthwhile considering? Would I even need them through out the house if a good router is hooked up?

Any particular reason why you're inclined to go with PlusNet over the other options?

Also is this FTTC/FTTP or?

I've used Plusnet before, was quite happy with them besides the poxy router and when they bumped up bt sport prices.

Changed for new deals. I'd check which are giving the best offers with cashback sites to start with. Most are pretty much of a muchness IME.

I was considering Vodafone, seemed good at £22 p/m and a bonus (not too bothered about it though) of a £120 gift card.

But someone said in a previous post they are pretty bad. But surely that they can't be uber poor.

Have Vodafone, no issues whatsoever. Their router is better than plusnets and reaches from downstairs to my attic room no problem (for my phone - I use homplugs for the pcs).

With the plusnet router I used to have to put my phone close to the floor for a signal.

Edit: I don't have a huge demand in the house though I think it's about 40-45 Down 15-18 Up.

Edit: Edit: just did a quick speedtest on my phone ping 17, D41 U18

I have Vodafone aswell, but FTTP, haven't had any issues. Very stable connection.

Yep, you can get some nice FTTC cashback deals, I'd keep an eye on HUKD.

hey turn, looking at the deals on HUKD and there are some crackers..

just wanting to know, creating an account to get the Cashback etc... is it safe and effective enough? never really used a site like this before!

I had Plusnet when the only thing I could get was 80/20 FTTC. Perfectly happy with the connection, the router was very basic but can be replaced with something else. Easy enough to phone each year to renew at the same price.

I have vodafone now, router is better (and came with a mesh extender), the connection has been flawless, but the customer service is incompetent.

just seen the deal with VF, it does say "fair usage applies"..how would that effect with me as I use a lot of data with my xbox etc..

All consumer ISPs will have a fair usage clause, if you use your connection normally then there won't be an issue.

I think it's more that you don't use an amount that a business would use.

Never noticed anything other than a good signal tbh.

I wouldnt be surprised if Plusnet slowly disappears or ends up as a budget ISP service. They are getting rid of the John Lewis Broadband service and allegedly next to go is the Business supply side of Plusnet. BT seem to be pushing the EE brand a lot too.

Little fact Plusnet used to be called Force9 and I was customer no.87 one of the first 100 to sign up with them back in the day.
