Pretty much par for course vs the euro. In the past 5 years it has tended fluctuate a fair amount between 1.14-1.18 with highs in the low 1.20s and lows in the 1.06.

Now if we could just go back to November 2015, I'd have been laughing. My motorcycle would have cost €3,500 less for a start.

One nice thing about all of this is the £ vs the Canadian Dollar, it had already been strengthening for the last 7 days anyway but todays events just mean that its strengthening further. Its now the strongest it has been since June, which is handy for my annual long winter Canada stay :)

Good enough reason to go ahead my Canada relocation plan it seems...

Been quite the development of things for us lefties - sitting back with a tub of popcorn laughing at literally everything warned about in 2015 has come true, and worse.

It's almost as if absolutely everything since the Brexit announcement & everything since the ultra right winds took power was predictable or something.

Honestly, I can't abide this left/right talk. You go far enough to either extreme and you end up doing horrific things.

I take no pleasure in seeing what we knew would happen come to fruition.

We need this current government out, they are actively making our lives worse. It's a long path to a fairer voting system and a fairer, more equitable, society but this lot are never going to do it.

Easier to blame it all on Corbyn.

 no that's the Amish you're thinking of - us lefties love fun & pleasure, just ask our open minded leftie girlfriends ;)
:D

I dont think I am left or right, there are some things on the left I agree with and some I dont, and some things on the right I agree with and some I dont. I'm probably "Central". One thing I am all about though is the fun and pleasure, if I cant have fun and pleasure then there isnt much point being alive. Life's too short etc etc...

(having said that, I do like the Amish lack of technology life...thats the Amish right? Or is that the other ones, cant remember their names)

I have a serious question. There is much ado about "shorting the pound", but surely, as the pound strengthens against another currency, one can bet on that too? But there's seemingly no ill feeling from the currency users against their money men who are now taking their turn to have their country's money "shorted"? Excuse my simplistic grasp of this please...

Mennonites are similarly anti technology to the Amish, although the Mennonites totally shun motorised transport, which contrary to popular opinion, the Amish do not. (I am not an egg head in these matters, it's just that I have an acquaintance who is a Mennonite).

The current economical situation isn't really much to do with Brexit unless you mean because it's given us these particular politicians. The Brexit issue is more of a slow burn compared to covid and war in Ukraine.

Apart from the comedy show, the UK is in a similar position to many other counties in terms of strikes, inflation, falling currency vs. dollar, shortage of workers, high cost of fuel/energy etc...

p.s. I realise my username is very unfortunate.

It's got everything to do with Brexit, because that was the beginning of the cannibalism of the Tories.

I refer you to the article I posted above.

We're uncannily paralleling Italy, not 'many other countries'. Italy.

Definitely Brexit, not global pandemic and war in Europe, Conservatives "ultra right wing". No clown emoji on here sadly.
