Any opinions on the MSI PRO B550-P GEN3

I can't see if the msi board is Pcie4 , the Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 is same money has Pcie4 and q flash plus.

Check the specs on both before you decide.

I think my woes with the Gigabyte B350 have put me off the brand this time around, so I'd like to try something different.

He's only got a gen3 NVME drive as his boot drive, would there be any benefit from connecting that to a gen4 interface?

No but you have an opertunity to get pcie4 which for the same price is a no brainer as it gives more upgrade option.

Your call but any brand can become faulty, you will have a 3 year warranty.

See what others think.

Very true, thanks.

I can't find it in stock for the same price with delivery tomorrow though? I'll keep looking.

I'm struggling to find both reasonably priced and in stock, but I've found the MSI PRO B550-P GEN3 in stock with delivery tomorrow for £105.

Anyone know if it's a decent board before I order it? Thanks.

It's a new board, I think, the BIOS seems to support nearly all AM4 CPUs out of the box. VRM looks a bit light, but it does have heatsinks. Reminds me of the Z370 range.

Only one M.2 and PCI-E 3.0, which makes me wonder if it's a rebrand.

I'd imagine it would be fine for 6 and 8 core CPUs.

Just wondering how you found the board as I've just purchased one with a 5600. Did it need a bios flash to work?
TIA

I ended up with the MSI B550-A PRO instead, worked out of the box with a 5700x, I'm sure yours should support the 5xxxx series from the factory too.

As far as I can gather, the release BIOS is dated April 2022 and the board supports all current CPUs out of the box.
Your correct, it says on the box Ryzen 5000 ready
Oh I have one NVME slot with a 500gig, however I don't have another to expand storage. Can I use a pcie adapter and put it in the PCIE 2.0x16?
TIA

Yes you can , that slot e4 runs at pcie 3.0 x 4 from the chipset not pcie 2.0.
