Hi.
Looking for the cheapest DDR4 AMD 6 core upgrade possible.
Looking for 16GB of ram.the motherboard doesn't need any bells and whistles for overclocking or anything special.

Its purely an upgrade from an older DDR3 I5-4590.light gaming and browsing mostly.
Thanks

i notice that pretty much all of the AM4 budget boards are pre order.whats the reason for this and how do you find out pre order ETA's please?

You will have to contact OCUK via webnote or email to find out ETAs. Or shop around and find a mobo you want that is in stock.

If you are looking for a power efficent gpu then almost all the AMD RDNA2 cards were excellent in this regard. That means 6600 6600xt 6700 6700xt and 6800 are all very good in this regard. If you wait until Nov 3rd then RDNA3 cards are being announced and AMD are making bold claims about that architectures fps/watt but the mid range cards will most likely not be released until 2023.

It seems that OC are not refreshing there motherboard stock as most other retailers seem to have a good selection of amd B550 motherboards in stock.

As an alternative this is an intel 6 core setup but its older tech (2 gen old now)

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £321.46 (includes delivery: £10.50)

Personally I'd be looking at the 12100F + B660 for a cheap gaming combo as it beats all AMD CPUs up to a 5600 in gaming and is more efficient + you have the option to drop in 13 gen higher core count CPUs in the future.

i would avoid the ryzen 5500 like the plague
it's a cut down zen3 cpu with very little cache and performs basically like a 3600
whilst decent, definitely not worth the price
if you're going to upgrade, do it properly and get a 5600 at minimum (amd) or 12400 (intel)

For the OP use it wont really manke much difference.
one could also argue that OP upgrading wouldn't make much difference either too, as it's only for "light gaming and browsing"
all i'm saying that if OP really wants to splash cash upgrading, then there are saner choices than a 5500

this looks interesting. i've kept out of the loop on pc parts for a long time and didn't realise intel were doing 6 cores similar prices to AMD.had it in my head an intel 6 core was going to be way more than this is priced.
I mostly play PS5 now days but do play FFXI,league and warframe on PC now and then.all at 1080p with 8gb ram.just fancied treating my self to a 6 core upgrade for a while now and thought AMD was the way to go for 6 cores.
Thanks for your posts everyone :)
