B650/e or X670/e

The 2 motherboard you chose the x670 has more m2 slots with 16 power phases while the b650 strix has better audio 14 power phases.
There is distinct lack of reviews on zen 5 motherboards and does t seem to be a go to board .

Noticed this and usually by now the internet is flooded with feedback and reviews... this is making decisions hard.

I looked at the exact same 2 boards and I'm going with the Asus TUF. More phases and 2x8 pin eps did it for me and while these aren't strictly needed I will no doubt put a 16 core in there one day and you never know how long support for AM5 will be so the extra power functionality may be a good thing. May also be useless haha. Also the audio on the TUF is worse but it's still good and not as basic as on a lot of the AM5 boards.
It's one of the cheapest X670E boards at the moment and it appears an all-rounder but without reviews it's going to be a TUF decision?

Wait for reviews. I don't think we will have motherboards with bad VRMs (maybe at the bottom of the heap in the future) but you never know until there are reviews.
I think all of the current AMD stuff is overpriced and going to be discounted in the next few weeks. Intel wins in both price and performance at the moment.
Well overpriced and have recently started to see prices drop daily. Reviews are needed and very few around, but I don't doubt the quality from what I've seen just need that reassurance. Intel wins for value, but the platform is done however let's hope AM5 mirrors the success of AM4.
Pretty much require an all-rounder but then again without reviews, how can you tell if it has a decent and solid power delivery?
We've all seen the bold claims made by certain manufactures and later turns out to be a stinker. Usually by now the media has covered this subject, price maybe.

Yep prices have to fall quite a bit for me to bite before the year is out, if not I will wait until this time next year and take another look.
Some seem to have tiny heatsinks... especially micro atx. The Asus Prime B650M is already getting reviews of VRMs running hot (but stable for now). Wouldn't have much faith in that board to power an 8000 cpu, and the upgrade path is surely half the point
No such thing as 'overkill' power delivery when you're buying the first motherboard of it's socket generation!
...unfortunately all the best looking ones are absurdly priced right now. Early adopters' tax is savage this year.

Agreed as the usual go to the Tomahawk is grossly overpriced when compared to the X670 range.
The X570 range has always been priced around the sub £200-£300 mark and most B550 boards sub £150-£200.
Now with 2 variations/types of each B-X chipsets they now have an excuse to fudge up the pricing.

guessing alternative to the tuf x670e would be the asus b650e gaming e, as £18 in it...the e has 4 nvme slots too, one of with has gen5, also has the digital post display on the mobo..and vrm 16+2 70a on gaming e...14 on the gaming f but rated 80a each, and loose digital post and 1 nvme,,but save £50 over tuf

z790 boards just as bad though..z790 tomahawk think £100 more than the z690 one

It's put me in a weird spot re an upgrade. A 13600K is mostly better than a 7600k for most things, and ends up being a cheaper platform right now today. But it's on an EoL socket that won't get another gen, where a good AM5 board will take an 8000 cpu in 2-3 years - but the up front cost of a good AM5 board this gen is so high it covers a 2nd midrange Intel motherboard within the same timeframe. And of course the second is midrange for 2025, not for 2022. With prices as they are, the real question becomes whether I want to plan 2-3 years ahead and dodge doing a full system rebuild and reinstall.
Guess I'll give it to december, see if there's any xmas deals.
Honestly, I'd need a good argument to buy z790 over z690 right now. Neither will take the next gen of CPUs in 2 years time. If the latest doesn't have a feature you can actually make use of (maybe a pcie 5 ssd?), it's a bit of a mug's game innit

This is the only problem with Intel lately, everything is EoL the day you buy it. Right now, I'd go AM5... platform should last well into 2025 and beyond like AM4. Prices are falling and should start to settle soon.
