Upgrade to a 970 that won't break the bank

And, totally random and unrelated but I've ordered him some rgb because we all know, moew rgb gives more FPS,

Including a RGB power cable but why don't we have RGB Sata cables? My rig has 5 hdds (as I'm a photographer by trade and need to keep the raw files) I could light my room if we had rgb Sata cables.... OK sorry.. :)

How safe is it getting one of those used, as in, how likey has it been abused in a miner
on balance, probably. and i would definitely want a copy of the original purchase receipt for warranty purposes and steer clear of sellers not willing to provide it
thankfully i have member's market access so sellers are more trustworthy
unfortunately you don't though, so your choices are the bay, FB marketplace or gumtree

Yeah this is very true.

haha i'm also an rgb convert. use to hate them...and now i have a 200mm front fan that's rgb!
Damn son, yall trying to outshine Blackpool?

I've fancied the 24 pin power cable ones myself for a while but never felt like paying 50 quid for a cable extension, did I ever mention I was tight?

LOL! praise the lord for the Chinese is all I can say when it comes to getting prices moving.

Shame they can't copy some 4090ti cards

Might need a new topic but.... On the subject of flashy rgb stuff what's the best case Cora 100 quid to get the lad to really show it off?

Any case with a side window will do the job of showing off the RGB. I would say Lian Li Lancool 205 Mesh or Lancool II Mesh or P400 Air or even Corsair 4000x but thats a bit more expensive. Any of those would suit your needs.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £420.89 (includes delivery: £39.06)

All mesh fronted so airflow is solid.

I'm personally keen on the Enso and Lian Li 205 Mesh, regardless make sure to check the case dimensions so you know the 1080ti and whatever HSF you're using will fit.

Managed to snag a 1070ti off the bay for 150 today, my luddite checking says it's around 92-96% better than his 970, so at that price I jumped in as its unlikely I can upgrade mine till near year being realistic

It will be a decent upgrade so I am sure he will be happy with it. Sticks to your original budget so can save money for more important things.

And if I can make an update myself in Jan, his birthday is just a few months later, so another jump again too and my younger son gets a decent start on his road to the money pit that pc gaming is lol
