Because he set his time on softs, pretty much everyone else is on test tires. Wouldn't read too much into times in FP2

Yet another mistake from a Ferrari driver. It’s almost as if their inconsistency has been one of the main factors why RBR have dominated this year. Shocking. People can pretend it was the cap breach though if they prefer.

I’d say Alonso is just trolling but he’s clearly the most bitter man in F1 and means what he says. Just retire mate, Lewis showed you up in his first season and you’ve done nothing since. Lol.

I think Alonso is an amazing driver but it's just a weird take.

1. When Vettel was dominating Alonso talked about how you can only really compare against your team mates and its unfair to compare against drivers in other cars
2. Verstappen has had no competition this season at all, none from his team mate and at no point did Ferrari ever look like getting their act together
3. Last season Hamilton would have literally won the title had it not been for 'human error' handing Verstappen the race on the last lap

Im sure he is partly trolling but at the same time he's trolling because he's still bitter about how his career has gone post 2006. He was meant to be the new generational talent but he ended up in the shadows of Vettel and Hamilton.

Is there a more salty driver on the planet than Alonso ?

I mean his first title was won on the last corner over Massa - not his team mate. The RB has been superb this year, how is it any different for max, he's only had to beat a No2, who knows he's a number 2. Ferrari could have challenged this year as they did in the Merc era, but faultered through driver and operational errors.

Is he bitter because he has always made the wrong choice in his career direction, joining teams when they weren't capable of giving him the best car.

Interesting that no one mentions the comments Hamilton made in the last 24 hours about Alonso, I can 0nly imagine Alonso's comments are retaliation.

Hamilton has made more than his fair share of negative comments about his opponents, criticised other teams, managers even cried racism a few times and pretty much throws his toys out of the pram very regularly.

In all fairness Lewis has made better decisions on which teams to be with at the right time, something Alonso has failed miserably at. But Alonso has also won outside F1, which I don't think Lewis has.

Still think Alonso is better than Hamilton, who himself is only marginally better than Seb.

What did Hamilton say about Alonso in the last 24 hours ?

In short words to the effect "I admire Alonso but all he has is racing, and no plans for the future. I could leave today and do many other things"

Not saying it justifies what Alonso said. But it was just for context, drivers trash each other all the time and Alonso v Hamilton isn't a new rivalry and it works both ways!

Fair enough, gives it some context provided the alonso quote was recent and not from an interiew he did previously which has just been published now.
