GOW Ragnarök thread + Spoilers (please tag them)

Wasn't particularly keen on the 1st game but still thought it was worth completing. Tried this until I got to the bear fight and removed it, story and gameplay just just not grabing me at all.

Thats only just about 2hrs into the game, I mean each to there own but story is barely going at that point

Try playing a bit more would be my suggestion…..

Considering the cost I will install again and try some more when I am more in the mood. I think so far my issue was about 1.5 hours of gaming and it was mostly QTE.

Definitely worth persevering if you thought the first one was worth completing

What difficulty is everyone playing on? I have started with Give Me No Mercy seems ok so far

Im about 4.5 hrs in and the story has not even got going yet. More of the same but then I’m not sure how it could be any other way and be GoW? Really enjoying it so far. It can be a bit difficult in places and I’m thinking this isn’t a souls game but some sections have been proper tough. Although having said that I’m getting used to the controls again now which helps.

It’s a beautiful game - I’m playing on performance mode but not high frames and I think I’m getting about 60fps.

I have cleared all the jobs in the first main water area including the hidden giant turtle thing. I’ve just visited the Dwarf guy who gives you a fine. Literally just walked out the other side of his office and had to turn it off because, well, real life stuff. Lol.

Re difficulty, the Oden fight had me raging!! Took me like 10 attempts to get past the last phase. Not sure why, just couldn’t find my rhythm. Finding things a bit easier now I’m settling into the controls and fighting dynamics.

I’m also on give me no mercy. I have found it real tough in places. I’m considering taking it down a notch but I will see how I get on in the next part of the game. I like to try and balance effort vs progress as I don’t generally get a lot of game time.

I used to play all my games on the hardest setting before realising it was breaking the immersion somewhat. Seeing enemies able to take a full mag of ammo and act like nothing was wrong just looks cheap. AI has not moved in since the dawn of gaming and the only way to make them harder, is to make them hit sponges.

Normal setting for me.

Played a bunch. More of the same, combat seems to pack a bit more punch and I like the design of the gods. Not blown away by it yet but well, the first game didn't leave me utterly stunned either but was still good fun with a few highpoints so hope this surpasses it.

Playing on No Mercy, seems easier than Challenge in GoW so far.

I’m playing on the default difficulty more than enough for me. I hate getting frustrated and doing parts multiple times… I’m also old and slow…lol

I'm loving it so far.

Playing on perfomance and the graphics look great to me. Actually through wow at the bit where...
Kratos is dreaming near the start and walks out of the hut in the dark before the scene turns to daytime. The transition from day to night and the lighting of that scene was brilliant. I actually stopped for a minute just to look at him standing in the doorway.

It's nice that this game has so many graphics modes. You can even run Quality 40fps unlocked with HFR + VRR turned on.

Quality + HFR definitely goes above 40fps very often for me, I can feel the frames fluctuating but VRR smooths it out to a degree. Just like Performance with HFR + VRR runs at 60fps unlocked but fluctuations between 60-90 feel better than between 40-60.

I might switch to 60fps mode later on but I enjoy those better shadows and LOD along with slightly sharper image and with combat this slow I think 40fps feels pretty good surprisingly, not 60+fps good but way better than the unplayable 30fps. That vs 60fps would be no contest. I'll try locked 40fps later.

Every mode apart from 30fps Quality is great, TBH.

This is strange.
Set it to favour quality with high frame mode on and I’m hitting 118fps
Set it to favour performance and I get 78-80fps.

This is on a LG C2 oled so I can check the fps by bringing up the game optimiser screen or mashing the green button on the remote to bring up a small fps box.

Anyone else finding this glitch?
