For one race only, we have 12 race winners lining up on the grid. The highest ever number, I believe.

Yep. Sainz winning at Silverstone took the tally to 11, Russell last time out to 12. We'd had 10 at several points in F1 history, but this season was the first time it got up over that IIRC.

Genuinely unsure what the running order this race is going to be. Is there are chance of Merc being front runners again, or was that just down to the unusual conditions in Brazil?

Couple of very long straights in this one which should see Redbull back on top over the course of a lap. I expect a Redbull front row lock out for quali. Mercs do traditionally go very well here though.

The press conferences should be juicy. I expect Max will have been strongly coached to not rise to any bait. I wonder if he can keep it in check over the entire weekend. Not sure what I want from this last race. I think I'd like to see Ferrari show they still do have the ability for both drivers to compete at the same time, for one twos. I'd ideally like both Mercs and both Ferraris to come in ahead of the Redbulls in a clean race with no VSC or SC, just so we can show promise for a potentially fantastic 2023 season with a 3 way team battle.

I wonder what the odds are for Latifi to stack causing VSC or SC is again? ;)

Just wanting someone to wind Max up to see him pop. Extra points if its Checo :p

Merc 1-2 in FP1, and a good showing for some of the rookies. Lawson within a 1/4s of Pérez, Sargeant .3s behind Albon, Fitipaldi 0.062s behind KMag.

Not a practice session we can take anything from and the times were only the same as they were last year in the race. Not much point in teams hunting setups when the ambient temperatures and track conditions will be different for qualifying..

In other more positive news… F1 have released a pretty good homage to Seb.

There’s an extended highlights package on their official YouTube channel of how he won the title in 2012. What stood out to me (apart from the noise ;)) was how momentous that particular race was…

  • Vettel vs Alonso for the WDC
    Schumacher’s last race
    Hamilton’s last race for McLaren
Hulkenburg leading the race until he binned it
    Button’s last race win
    Massa home race
The amount of SCs and crazy weather in one race

Check it out: https://youtu.be/YE30Hfyohbc
