Wait to buy the 7900XTX or buy the 6950XT?

I'm not sure if I should wait for the 7900XTX or buy the 6950XT and then sell it a few months after the 7900XTX is released?

What would you do?

I admire your optimism that you'll be able to grab the XTX on launch day...You face two hurdles, its the 7900 card that EVERYONE will want and these-days AMD treats the UK market like the ugly red headed step child, when it comes to stock allocation and priority.

So, take a guaranteed 6950 now, or a (likely) wait until sometime in the new year for a 7900...

7900XTX be twice as fast so wait.
Even though AMD said 13th December launch. Realistically, do you think I would be able to get one before Christmas?

This is what I was slightly worried about.

If I bought an 6950xt and used it for a couple of months while I waited, do you think I would lose out on price much when it came to sell the 6950xt?

I would wait , pretty sure you'll be able to get one on release day , just be ready at 2pm ? With tabs open from few retailers :)

6950xt is £929.99 , I would 100% get either of the 7000 series over that the uplift is impressive regardless playing at 1440p and better for in the long run

From past releases they tend to be 2pm UK

I'm hoping to pair it with the Samsung Odyssey G8.
3440x1440. the 6950XT will be a beast at that resolution, the 7900 XT /XTX will demolish that res but you will likely incur CPU bottleneck penalties.

You can get a 6900 XT from OcUK right now below 700 quid, the 6950XT is not worth it over it.

So, definitely hold off on the 6950XT then?

The CPU I would like to get is the i7 13700k.

7900xtx will be hard to get and the $999 dream will in reality be more like £1200
Probably, but if I buy the other components needed for the build on Black Friday, then with the savings I should hopefully be able to afford the £1200 if that's going to be the case.

Even on release day ? Or have I been lucky I know AIB will be priced higher but won't retailers have reference models at launch pretty sure gibbo mentioned it , It's usually after that when it can be difficult
