Hello,

Our direct debit has been £175 since the rise in May. Which I set as a 'more than enough to cover the rises' amount, and our account remains quite largely in credit. Scottish Power have now said we need to put it up to £225 which is unnecessary.

I'm wanting to put it back down to £175 (as I am confident that this is enough to cover the bills and increases over the winter) - but when I go to adjust the DD, it shows a line that says 'Today's One off Payment: £854'

Has anyone else had this? I don't understand the need to make a one off payment as the account is in credit and by my very generous calculations, it won't go out of credit.

Cheers

lucky (kind of) - My EDF DD has just gone from 240 to 550 this morning. Thats most of my free money for the month gone. Roll on solar installation but that wont help this winter.

What was your last bill date as the in credit figure may include payments since but not usage? Their calculations are bizarre at times in any event!

Last bill was in September and was ~£335 (3 months), account showing £640 in balance with next bill due 14th Dec, and next DD to go in 20th Dec

I have flexible DD with octopus, only pay for what i use......
must admit to be a dinosaur but i let eon know every month what my meters read and usually around 100 a month (touch wood) must admit only just put central heating on and only about a hour in the morning and same at night. flipping cold but tbh pretty worried to use more.
