Stopover city break from Australia

For hotel recommendations we stayed in the Pan Pacific which was awesome. Great breakfast choice/buffet covering all cuisines from Japanese soup/noodles, to chana masala and rotis, to english fried breakfasts, to god-knows-what-else I've forgotten. I don't know what the Ritz Carlton's is like but I'd imagine it's similar. I got lost the first morning I went off from our table to get my first course :p I seem to recall the hotel being fairly reasonable for a 5 star, although we'd had 3 weeks staying with family in NZ and Australia so were happy to pay whatever to treat ourselves.

Thank you everyone for their responses. I was going to ask about accommodation as was looking at Airbnb options but the hotels sound pretty good from the few mentioned.

It's definitely the frontrunner now to be a break from Oz on the way home.

I've been struggling since I last posted! But I found it, having gone through my phone vids, I can definately recommend going to East Coast Lagoon Food Village especially at night to make the most of it!

Glad I wasn't the only one a bit disappointed by Sentosa! There are some nature park walks up north that are supposed to be pretty good, chance of spotting a croc or two, never been myself though.

Second whoever said Clarke Quay, good food and drinks. Lau Pa Sat was always my favourite for street food (by street food I mean massive amounts of satay and beer).

I always stayed at Swissotel Stamford, very nice hotel but might be lol expensive now like everything else.

...stay away from Orchard Towers at night :P.

Can't speak for the likes of Singapore as Asia is one area of the world I've not visited and obviously always going to be a bit subjective what interests people but San Francisco and Vancouver are kind of patchy as a place to visit briefly with the more interesting stuff IMO being quite a bit of travel to and from - not really ideal for a 2-3 day stopover.

Prices, especially for higher tier and 'luxury' hotels seen to have gone crazy since places started opening up after Covid.

2019 I paid £2k for 5 nights in a Royal Suite at Intercontinental now it's £4k(!!!!) on the same flexible rate.

Currency devaluation plus international inflation is not a great combo. From what I’ve been looking at business class flights are even worse, maybe 2.5 or 3 times the price.
