Ok to use these usb ports for m/k?

Hey guys,

I installed my new GPU today, and after hooking everything back up, I decided to use the two buttom usb ports next to the Ethernet port.

one is standard blue and the other, red, is that ok to populate this port? The peripherals are working fine, just wanted to check..

I’m assuming the Port is "super speed"?

You can use any. The top two black ports would be best, they’re (most likely) USB 2.0 and ideal for mouse and keyboard, leaving the faster USB 3.x ports for anything else you may plug in.

cheers, I will leave as is, I won’t never need to connect anything, and I suppose if I do there is still the usb3 port above.

I do have a wireless headset that’s connected via usb3 on the front case I/o to give me best connectivity as my pc sits under the desk.

it’s crazy really…I remember back in the day to install stuff on windows, but today after a fresh install of windows, I plugged the usb receiver in for the headset, about 5 seconds later, boom, working, no drivers or software, nothing. Crazy how’s times change!

It will be flash bios port I would think .

Pretty basic looking
So don't think will be a bios flash port
Think my bios flash port may be white
Superspeed 10gbs maybe 20gbs port probably
Red also usually means its a port that can supply power
Even when pc is off/sleeping/hibernating
So on/off charge
Can charge devices when pc is off/sleeping/hibernating
Or whatever the manufacturer calls it
Actual name might vary between manufacturers I guess

Another reason to use USB 2.0 for basic peripherals is that a mouse and keyboard are fine with the power limitations of USB 2.0, but stuff like headsets (especially VR-capable) & external hard drives, may not be happy in these ports.
