Hello!

Before putting in my CPU I noticed some funky pins on my new mobo.

It looked like this:

This was the first time I have ever encountered such an issue. I caused it accidently putting the CPU cover directly on top of the pins when its supposed to go on top of the lever rest (yes, i am a dumbass)

I spent about 3 hours with my phone camera zoomed in and a tooth pick and managed to get to this point:

The last picture on the final link also shows a bent pint on the south east side that I had bent back.

It's not perfect but I am wondering if I can risk putting in the CPU now ?

Thank you!

EDIT: it's an LGA 1700 TUF b660

Try it that's what I did when I bent the pins on a old z87 mobo, the pins didn't look 100% but it's working fine.

So not fry the CPU :/ ?

No one can give you that guarantee. There are margins of error built in to that space, even if that error margin is <mm it’s still there and therefore doesn’t need to be absolutely perfect.
I think the biggest risk is one of the pins not sitting high enough and not making contact with anything. They usually bend back and in all honesty yours didn’t look too bad to begin with.

It’s your train set but if it was me, I’d throw a cpu in.

Just an update here,I have switched the computer on. Prior to doing so, I switched out the GPU from a 3080 to my old 980ti just so incase anything gets shorted and so that I don't damage my new expensive GPU. I also have taken off all SSDs.

The goal is to be able to boot to the BIOS and read what's connected.

BUT:

No display. On the B660 mobo, the GPU powers on and then after a while its fans turn off. The VGA error light is shining white, The lights on the 980 are still on. Also the boot error light turns on but I assume that's because no SSD connected, so should be fine.

No CPU errors indicated by the lights.

Is this a problem with the pins, or because I changed out the GPU I wonder?
