Hi,

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my trusty i7 6700k (4.0ghz) to something a bit newer.

I'm trying to keep costs down therefore have been looking to keep my 32 gb of Corsair dd4 3000mhz ram if that is possible?

My gpu is 3080Ti gaming on a 34" UW 1440p. Would like to upgrade to a 4k monitor in the future..

I guess my question is .. would £400-£500 be enough for a CPU/Mobo and new psu? (currently have 750w corsair unit however is 6 years old) I'm not fussed if its amd or intel.. just looking for something that will provide a boost and not destroy my bank balance!

If I can find something on the cyber Monday deals I will be sure to order!

I'd go with the 13600K, plus a low-end Z790 DDR4 board. Does the PSU still work? Personally, I'd keep it, 6 years isn't much for a decent PSU and probably still within warranty.

Thanks, I will take a look just now. psu works fine.. I was just a bit concerned about the load it would be under with the new cpu,gpu along with everything else. Suppose the worst that can happen is it cannot cope and starts cutting out!

R5 5600 and a B550, less then £230, keep your PSU. I wouldn't waste double the amount for single digit % gains at 1440p UW, especially given you want to stick with your DDR4.
