Why have they taken them offline in winter?Sweden electric prices gone nuts...

Maintenance. Lose 1 and it's a huge chunk of potential supply. Stupid country. Why have they taken them offline in winter?
genius move if its planned maintenance.Maintenance. Lose 1 and it's a huge chunk of potential supply. Stupid country.![]()
wow........ you know, no one would ever give me a job in logistics around managing power reactor maintenance schedules......Maintenance. Lose 1 and it's a huge chunk of potential supply. Stupid country.![]()
It’s based on kWh. So the second percentage was a greater proportion of a smaller number of kWh.93% saved first session, 96% the second but we got more points for first session so not sure how they worked that out.
Lol yeah.wow........ you know, no one would ever give me a job in logistics around managing power reactor maintenance schedules......
And yet IF i had the job the thing at the top of the to do list would be to service all nuclear reactors when demand was at its lowest...... hardly rocket science!.
I guess someone forgot to put a reminder on Alexa "Alexa please remind me to get nuclear reactor serviced on Sunday"
n3rgy data service ( https://data.n3rgy.com ) is used by Orange Power Ltd to interface with the national smart meter systems in order to collect, store, manage and share with Orange Power Ltd your Smart Meter data. This service uses the Smart Energy Code (https://smartenergycodecompany.co.uk/) Party credentials and Party ID of its parent, N3RGY LIMITED, incorporated and registered inEngland and Wales with the company number 11203504 whose registered office is at 4 Ovington Drive, Fleet, United Kingdom, GU51 1DF
If it is an older SMETS1 that doesn't work to actually provide the smart stuff they will swap it as it not fit for purpose but if you have a SMETS1 meter that does provide reading and works fine then they can't take it out without being fined. So it all depends on the meter type.Do you know when this has been the case since? I joined Octopus in August, and they were more than happy to schedule in a SMETS1 to SMETS2 swap so I could join GO. The original meters wouldn't submit automatically to Octopus after I switched the house from BG to them.
I'm thinking they avoided using gas so much in summer while it was still possible to refill the missing reserves. Now the war inevitably gets worse daily (and Putin more desperate etc.) its not likely as much a chance, now they cannot delay maintenance. Wind and hydro power in theory should be higher in winter. By 2030 end there is the idea, hopefully they are bringing online smaller reactors, technology taken from the military subs finally we get some payback and utility from billions spent there. Why have they taken them offline in winter?
Looks like Octopus have opened up tracker again for new signups, but odd this coincided with dailies going back up, so it was pulled during the cheap period and back when it ended.
Got billed £170 this month and we've managed to get our electricity unit cost down to 26.5p/kWh with little effort. I'm happy with that, and know I could potentially get that down a little more.I really wish Octopus gave me a running tally of cost for electricity, as it's hard to work out being on GO and having the split tariff.
I've used 271.65kWh so far this month in electricity, of which 54.8kWh went into the car, around 3kWh per day running an electric radiator, and a couple of clothes washes overnight are all in the cheap hours so probably about 135kWh cheap and 137kWh expensive, meaning I've got an average unit cost of about 25p/kWh as long as I've got the maths right, or about £80.36 so far in electricity inc. standing charge. Gas is much easier - 573kWh of gas used so far, so about £66.23 with standing charge.
Direct debit of £190/month which I've worked out as the average for the year - really, really hoping that's enough.![]()
its funny.... even tho i have a really good deal on electricity and only use a max of few kwh a day outside of my cheap rate, usually less i am finding i am still being extra careful.
normally i would have the 3kw electric heater on now in my mancave/home office but instead am using a hot water bottle and blanket.
and ............ its absolutely fine. hopefully i wont change back.
I'm the same way sat at home working. Wear thick / comfortable clothes and a oodie / blanket when the days are really cold and I can work in 15-16c.
15-16c would be great. So far this 2015 house is down to 10.5c without heating on. There isn't any obvious heat loss other than the double glazing PVC windows being the largest issue. But yeah without using TVs and not cooking in evenings there isn't a lot of background heat otherwise to get the ambiant up.

It was 3degree in Oxfordshire two nights running so if there is zero background heat and been out for a week prior that I expect that why the house has dropped to 10.5c It is mostly the front door and kitchen window cause the rear door has blackout thermal curtains and all bedroom windows and dining window are blackout thermal roman blinds so pretty well insulated from loosing heat. 300mm thick loft insulation, insulated cavity walls and end of terrace so at least one wall is not external. That's pretty surprising considering how mild it's been in the south so far this year.
I've been tempted to buy a heat camera and offer services this time to year to help people work out where their heat loss is occurring. Those camera's aren't cheap though!
I have been home all day today with the PC on WFH and my office is 14c. My thermostat downstairs is still currently showing 11.5c right now.I think I'd need all my windows blasted wide upon to get that low, about the lowest I've seen it here is 17C internally.
