I had a bump back in July. Bin wagon was reversing blocking the whole road so I stopped. As it cleared I went to continue in my lane and a taxi was overtaking 2 cars (me and car directly behind me) that were blocked. As he pulled back into the left lane I saw him last 1/2 second stopped and he hit into my wing. This is backed up by dash cam and a neighbours cctv.

My insurance is chasing up the taxi's insurance to pay but they're refusing to take fault and it's now going to solicitors. Is this normal behaviour or do I need lube and any idea how long this will take? I've not been in this situation before so I'm uncertain.

Thanks

Your insurance company is siding with you and instructing your solicitors, so that's good.

You'll get sent forms and other stuff to highlight what happened in your words and pictures etc and they'll pursue the third party. If they dispute it will go to court. This process could easily take over 12 months of both parties don't come to an agreement. You may find they'll angle for a 50/50 for a quick resolution.

While this is ongoing your claim will need to be declared as "at fault" for renewal and they'll keep your excess. If it eventually goes in your favour you'll be able to claim this back from the third party, but they won't make it easy (probably).

Already done statement and sent copies of the dash cam and cctv. Thought that would have killed the taxi's claim. Already hit renewal on the insurance but as my insurance knows I'm innocent there wasn't a big bump in price. Phew. Could it end with me in court? Interested to see as I've never been but that'll be a faff

Doubtful, if (big if) it goes to court your sides solicitors will likely have you make a signed witness statement explaining what happened.

Just make sure to send any paperwork etc they request in a timely manner.
