Well after the previous success of giving away a low mileage Top Gear featured IS300 (which has tripled in value since, LOL!) I figure its time for some more charity! Mods please delete if this isn't suitable.

I have my old set of mechanic tools in storage in Brighton, UK for the last 8 years and its finally time to let them go, consists iirc of:
  • 4 good axel stands
  • Cheapo but effective 2 ton Jack
  • 2 torque wrenches
  • Spanner/socket/wrench sets (not sure how many left, as some might have been "borrowed"), had a decent selection of stuff to cover most scenarios that I bought as I needed them.
  • More specialised stuff like spring compressors/bushing pullers and god knows what else.
  • ODB2 reader & pile of old interior parts iirc
Basically everything you need for tasks like:
  • Water pumps/cooling
  • Thermostats
  • Brakes
  • Exhausts
  • Belts
  • Suspension
  • Fluid changing/servicing
Ideally would like it to go to someone who is going to teach themselves getting **** heaps past MOTs like I did, but obviously a certain amount of common sense would be a plus in that situation!

Pickup from Brighton, anyone interested?

Perhaps nobody's nearby. If I were closer, I'd be there like a shot, it's a very generous offer.

Thanks for trying him :) This set is ideally for someone who wants to get started and learn, as anyone experienced will probably have everything already :)

I would make it a condition of this offer that you have to post photos of at least some of the kit being used complete with in-date loaves of Hovis (to reduce the chance of someone just selling it all for profit) on a periodic basis, I know some people like reading project threads too.

I just have this horrible image in my head of the crawler with a pair of legs sticking out from under a car with a squished loaf of Hovis on the front of a newspaper :D

If I had access to that gear, attempted any of those jobs I would end up on 24 Hours in A&E shamefully.

Great gesture and I’m sure someone with those aspirations will stop by.

If you don't get somebody to collect it, let me know and i will find a good home for them, my car has a load of things that need doing but i don't have the driveway for, but if i have the tools to start these jobs im sure i can convince somebody i know to lend me theirs.

Fond memories of doing the brake lines on an E36 by the side of the road, every time a car went past the car would wobble on the axel stands :D

Saturday works for us :)
Sorry to be a pain, but would Sunday work? My wife's now caught wind of this and she reckons a nice Brighton fish & chips would be nice, come along too if you like :D

Massive thanks in advance, this is very generous of you :)

(And yes, I'll post pics of it in the garage :p)

Will check again and get back to you, unfortunately I will be out of town until Monday!

Edit: Sunday lunchtime or later is fine!

If I was closer I would have been all over this. I can do a service on my van. But that's about it. Not got the tools for the rest. Hopefully it all goes to a good home

Excellent, thank you kindly sir! Don't suppose you have a photo of the kit do you, just so I know what vehicle to bring? Cheers :D
